I'm noticing those notches in the brake shoes, is there a distinct advantage to these notches? I'm building a '30 coupe and will be flipping to hydraulic brakes.....is this something I should consider doing?

Yes- a grooved brake shoe performs better than the ungrooved shoe this has been backed up by research.

X2 Tuck in regards to the roadster, leave the front end as it is with some improvements as you see fit. The quad shell should work out extremely well with the STAR DESTROYER and some needed modifications. Possibly cut back the frame horns to where you may decide to run some chrome nerf bars just past the shell as an idea??

I have the frame on the frame table- and pinched it in the front about 6-8" and flipped the cross member upside down. I have to do this to make it work with this grill shell to get it in the perfect spot.

I got a torsion bar set up out of a Packard with that auto-adjust ride height- I'm engineering a way I can use this in place of the rear spring to adjust the ride height. Playing around with ideas right now... I'll try and upload some sketches later. I've really had a hell of a time figuring out shop time this year.

    Mold is possible- :)

I found a T-bird parts car to pull the lights out of and the bezels- getting the seats for my chopped shoebox!

    I'll post pics this weekend.
    thanks guys-

Fairly certain I know the history of the roadster. Also believe I know the whereabouts of the original frame......or at least the one that was trying to figure out why was this done? Why are the motor mounts so far back? Why doesn’t the front end line up with the main shell? The steering coupler is way off. What are these holes here for?

Frame possessor was asking the right questions, but didn’t do the research to discover exactly what he had and what it was used under.

    Fairly significant history.

Did you find a home made metal vin plate on the shell with hand etched: “Do Not Remove” at the bottom?

Hey sorry I haven’t had any updates on this but I haven’t really touched any of these projects because I kind of went through the drive train on my ranchero and have been a one man band with my girls while my wife has been deployed doing covid testing.

I am however going to make some copies of the fiberglass grill shell and sell a few.

this car is going to be put on hold while I focus on my roadster.... sorry guys.

I resigned from teaching this year and I’m going back to being self employed... shop is open. Long story but it’s something I feel great about.

Yeah about 6000 square feet of "Old School"... :)

Its privately owned so I was able to give the district where I worked the middle finger. :p Long story short they were taking advantage of me and it sucked... the school system sucks. The people in charge make six figures and give themselves fat raises all while refusing raises to teacher and working them to the brink... It bums me out but I wrote letters to the Minnesota Department of Education, the Governor, Union President etc. on my way out to help shed light.. Its all good because the community, former colleagues and students/parents totally have my back.

I've been busting ass trying to get everything setup to actually work in here- screen printing stuff included. I'm in what I call "bootstrap mode" where I'm trying to minimize expenses and pour all of my resources into forward movement... right now I'm focusing on the print shop stuff and getting it all online and setup so I can start printing. Just ordered more materials this morning.

I just quit teaching cold turkey, I had no plan. So here we go.

Damn Tuck! Nice light box! My wife would be envious. As an artist family household I we dig your tools. When H.A.M.B. people hear me crying about garage space it’s partly because a Roadster worth of space is eaten by shelves of silk screens, drying racks and flat files. The laundry room inside is also stuffed with printing press, inks, more flat files, and tons of photography supplies, and on and on.
    Best of luck bro.
