  2. More parts finds.
The last Safety Racing hub I need. The drum has been cut off on the lathe. I suspect the liner was no good.
I will run it on the right front with no brake sprint car style.

    I also did some trading.
A set of Frankland hub/dust caps for a set of Safety Racing caps.

Cool gloves, I was looking for the old open face leather goggles and mouth cover awhile ago. Can't quite find the one I remember from my early race days. Cagle wore one all the time but i forgot the photo in my tool box. I was going to post it, thought I would have some days off to play but work is super busy so it looks like the holiday is my only day off. Bought myself a heater so the 1st project is to get that wired in the garage, then start on the 32. Merry Christmas, enjoy !

  6. My dad used to help Bill Roese with on Bill's 56 Ford late model. Cagle drove that car in a lot of big shows.
Bill's car was used aircraft style shoulder belts, which Cagle did not like.
He used two 3" lap belts.
One on his lap the other on his chest.
Bill had to add mounts for Cagle to use the lap belt around his chest.

Ya we use to pit next to Will at Canandaigua when he had the Gremlins body cars. They were orange with Radio Shack as the sponsor. Then he went back to his white with the blue or red door 1/4 . He won Weedsport one night with a last minute rear end gear change. The next morning we stopped by the shop to buy some parts and he asked if I would look at the oil level in the quick change. During the race he heard a noise, no oil but he still won ! Takes luck as much as skill sometimes.

  8. Because I don't care how many pucks Tom Brady puts in the basket in the World Series that is going on.

  20. Sized up the competition yesterday at the Rotterdam Square mall car show today, also got some ideas.
Kind of like the old days I was looking under a car and the owner came over and opened the trunk.

I have been doing some work on the chassis as well.

I am having trouble loading photos I think my lap top needs repair.

I've had issues with the paper work so no work going on yet. Playing the waiting game for the weather too. Here is a shot I took back when you could wander around the infield as a kid. Looks great what you got done so far Robert, I'll have to run to catch up with you. racing cagle and birosh.jpg

  22. Picked up some vintage steel race car wheels at a very good price.
Two seem to be 8" or 10" wide the third is about 14". I need to measure them once the tubes and tries are off them.

It would take about 200 horsepower to turn the 14" with that D 100 compound Hoosier. Heavy!!!! And little wide for my needs.

  23. I picked up five more vintage race car wheels at the races last night.
The other three are in my cousins truck.
I bought these in the parking lot and the other in the pits. I am young, not stupid. I wasn't going to carry them around all night!

I'm from Binghamton, never went to Shangri-La. We had 5-Mile Point Speedway. Saw the Joey Chitwood Auto Thrill Show there in 1964 or 1965. Memories. Used to hear them on Friday nights clear over where I lived on the south side of the Susquehanna.

  25. Man I remember going to Shangri-la when I was a kid watching my friend Dan Keplers Dad race. Also Mr Exciment Jimmy Spencer and The Bodine boys

The human body just can't make six cylinder noises.

Dad raced a guy back in the '60s/'70s that had bought and owned one of Cagels #24 coupes.
