LB, concerning that pic of the 'vette line-up...these days it'll be a row of C5, C6 and C7 Corvettes. What a drag, they've become the Toyota Camry of the 21st century. I remember when seeing a Corvette on the street was something special.

  2. There was a c6 at the cruise night Friday with slicks, it sounded like a prostock car! I was mildly impressed. Oh he did park with the hot rods instead of the vette guys.

  3. Out for a cruise yesterday.
Stopped to see if I needed anything.

    Not a problem

I just figured that a picture of my car at the show was ok.
I figured it is like when someone takes a picture of their car in a parking lot and there are other cars in the background.

    It’s cool.

I’m waiting for the 2020 to come out. It looks like corvette is recapturing it’s youth a bit.

The title of the thread is hot rod corvette not stock corvettes thread! Sorry, I could help myself or my sarcasm as I thought to a conversation several pages back. The off topic 69’ corvette 427 car I had while in the navy had an L88 hood and side pipes. It sure was fun. I have always loved the L88 cars! And yes the corvette guys gave me a hard time for mine not being stock fender flares and slotted mags in all!!

Hard to fathom there might be a circle of people that would consider the 67 L-88 OT.
    Even on the HAMB!

Absolutely!! The California "yellow plate" really defines the era of this picture. For those who wouldn't necessarily know, the "yellow plate" license predates the better-known "black plate" era of the later '60's. I don't think the yellow-plate was issued after about 1960 or '61. I faintly remember the change-over although my first Corvette ('58) had yellow plates when I bought it in 1961.

The yellow and black plate went up until 62. In 63 they switched to the black and yellow. The yellow & black plates in my 57 are long gone (I’ll though I found a picture of my 57 in Hop Up mag with the yellow and black plates) but it has been wearing the black and yellow plates since 1963. My contribution. Although I might have posted it in the past. (I can’t remember) injected 283hp 283, 4 spd sag 3:11 low, 4:56 posi. High 12’s to mid 13’s depending on elevation. I took my first trip down the drag strip as a 16yr old passenger at LACR. [IMG]

This was my '57 w/black plates as photographed on Easter Sunday, 1968. (If I recall correctly, the Popular HotRodding "Project X" '57 Chevy originally had black plate # INL142). This car still had that plate on it when I sold it in 1973.
