Okay,
I'll ask....Why is the HAMB so anti TROG?
I see a few posts, about a car or the event,
but they are so short lived, and no real input or appreciation for it.
WHY?
Am I missing something?
Seems like this would be the spot for all things related to the event!
I know some think that its just a dress up costume event, not a true period event, but big named builders show up and then talk about how fun and amazing it all is!
Explain why I don't see more on here about the event and the cars.

I don't think the HAMB is anti TROG at all but any event thread that is posted almost 2 months before an event, no matter what the event is, are not going to garner much attention. Too many other things going on.

 

its not too early to talk about when cars have being built all year for it.

 

This is my buddy Josh’s car. He was accepted. A rollbar is now required for roadsters. I’ll be there in the pits with him this year

I've wondered the same thing. Met Mel long before the TROG was a dream, nice guy, same thing with Bobby Green. Looks like a fun event, I should get myself down there to see it all. Bob

 

Shot your pretty close to New Jersey check it out. I hear nothing but great things about Mel and his team.

 

I've not noticed an anti-TROG atmosphere around here, I thought it was pretty much appreciated by all except the "shiny paint only" guys.

 

Blues4U- not so much “anti” TROG, guess I mispoke. Just the lack of photos and commentary on the cars involved and the event itself. Like this post for example, there’s around 75-100 cars that will be attending this year, I see one photo on this thread that started 8 days ago. It should be flooded with photos to drool over! Just curious why it’s not. Maybe the builders are still thrashin’ on the builds to get them done and we’ll see more soon. Hope so!

 

Most of those guys post their stuff on Instagram and only check in here occasionally now.

 

We can't help it if the guys with the cars aren't posting. Like patmanta said, maybe they've just switched over to Instagram instead and don't hang here much.

No one is anti this or that joking or not, I guess the hambers that are qualified are busy thats all. Got to support any vintage racing I say.

 

Trog is one of the few things on my bucket list. Maybe I will go see it this year...

 

Starting to feel a little like Burning Man for "traditionalist" types. I lost interest when the $ rolled in.

 

That figures, most TROG builders are young with an iPhone.

It only a bit over 2 weeks till we get to the beach. The oilers used to post pictures of some accepted cars some where . Be cool to see some teaser shots.

I think it is an !Phone only deal, I'm too old to have one.

 

You'll be in the pits unless for some reason they decide to not honor the pit passes that they sold. Just sayin'

Instagram is much easier to use than the HAMB for quick pics and vids and is why that's where most are.

Some time ago come talking about this with @elgringo71 ... Many Hambers turned to social networks and they are the same some of them founders of TROG ... I prefer many times the thread of construction in Hamb ... It is true that each site he also has his audience, such as Instagram ... I follow Brian Bass quite a lot and I see that he is committed to uploading photos and videos to social networks every day like a robot ... His behavior may be reflected as a marketing strategy. . I do not know...

I was active on Instagram for awhile, but if you're going to build any kind of following you have to be active all the time, multiple posts per day, & you have to keep up with your contacts and support them as well. It's pretty time consuming.

Plus, I had other people taking my pictures and reposting them under their own name, not acknowledging the source, that pissed me off. I started to mark my photos, and some will still cut your name off your photos and post them as their own. That's a pisser. But you can block them.

I should probably get back on there and get active again, it is a good way to make acquaintances and I've ended up meeting Instagram contacts at local events, which helps you get to know other local people, which makes going to event better, so that's cool. It's just so time consuming. I still prefer the format of a message board.

 

I'm happy with the HAMB, the Instagram deal is a cell phone deal, right?
