  1. I am going to have to look up how that clutch works. Is a similar design to the Chrysler fluid drive?

Quite different from the Chrysler. This one has no fluid coupling, the friction material is cork. And it runs in oil. The Chrysler has a normal dry clutch attached to a fluid coupling.

Similar to a motorcycle clutch, runs in oil for cooling!

I stopped by Al in Maricopa this morning, picked up a few trim parts.

And took my mom out to lunch.

Thanks! I made it home. The electrical system was acting up a bit at the end. I really need to rewire the car.

Glad you made it home intact...this trip is a little different than your others. On this one you were picking up parts for the old gal along the way.

What's the story there...is she growing on you??? I suspect you have a plan that we will all find out about somewhere down the road.

If you were picking up air conditioning parts I would think second car for the missus but a 4:11 gear and trim pieces??? The mind is a racing in possibilities. Care to enlighten us mushrooms???

Again glad you made it in one piece without to much discomfort.

I do like this car....but I don't really have any solid plans right now. I'd like to fix it up some more and drive it around, it's probably pretty fun in the cooler weather. I made a mental list of stuff I'd want to fix, it's pretty long, and some of it is expensive. And it would still look as bad as it does now.

Cool...you just want to have fun with it. That's fantastic...you probably need to go to bed and rest right now so you can focus on drag week. You have been through a lot. Thankfully it was all good things.

Once you let the smoke out you can never get it back in.

Sooner rather than later, I hope.

I'd hate to see you lose the car (and your shop, etc.) from an electrical fire...not to mention the possible harm to life and limb!

The radio and cruise control were going off for a moment...not likely it's a problem with the main power feed that burns up. That one is fused now, too.

but I'll be happy to disconnect the battery for your peace of mind.

Do you have a final total of miles you drove?

I just took some pics of my gas log book, and I have the odometer pictures before and after. Although the tires being small makes the odometer read 8% fast.

    reading now: 11144

reading when I left Friday a week ago: 6353

=4791. Corrected, that's 4407 miles I drove in ten days. Or something close.

  26. That is a lot of miles. I am happy to learn that you like the Hudson enough that you are going to keep it. It sounds like you have a good base to work with.

So. An altered wheelbase Hudson Quatro Port With a Blown 426. That could do it on the HRM tour

I could see Squirrel chugging down the road with a vintage Airstream hooked up.
