possibly my route through the mountain today. It should be a blast. I think I'll skip little truckee pass, since it's not on the way at all. And I already did Sonora pass, I have a picture from the way to the event.

  7. Was told many years ago that all gear ratios are based off of a 26" tall tire. I'll assume that applies from the 50's on up as early cars had way taller tires. So it's easy to figure if you are doing an overdrive with the tires. Of course the online RPM calculator is the easiest and most accurate way to figure things.

Way cool squirrel, loved the thread, there is a reason that these engines are as tough as nails. They were built by crafts persons that really cared about the quality of the workmanship.

I got most of the points today. Missed a couple checkpoints.

The car did well today. Most of the time it runs OK . I took the air cleaners off, and that helped.

    Points from yesterday.

  15. Before Hudson’s they used to leave a trail of breadcrumbs, you could put fluorescent oil in the clutch and find your way home in the dark!

Wow, what a road trip. I knew of that rally but always thought it was a much shorter loop.
Looks like you might have bypassed Nevada City where you might have run across my cousin A huge guy with a white beard.
    Keep on posting the adventure.

I only added one quart of oil. There is 3 quarts between add and full lines on dip stick. Filled clutch once. This is from start of rally Tuesday.

One quart doesn't sound too bad, especially considering that you're running at higher speeds.

From the remembered 'gall' in that cylinder, just one quart of oil added I'd call it 'Score'.

I added a couple more quarts of oil yesterday.

Is been pretty hectic, getting up at 6am and to bed after 1am. Yesterday we went into a different mountain, up to 9200 feet. We got the Yugo running cool enough that it doesn't have to stop all the time, now the Hudson had to take a cool off break a couple times. But we're done with mountains.

Used the Hudson to bump start the little car last night. Been a long time since I did that.

Today I'm going to the beaches and the oil fields. And some other fun places.

Now I know what guys are talking about when they sy those Hudsons came "chopped " from the factory. That's a really nice roof line.
