Don't buy gas in Lee Vining unless you have to. Went through there a couple of weeks ago and regular

I don't know. But I'm thinking the cool Monkey-Wards "Powr-Kraft" tool box is loaded up with baling wire and Hudsonite. And duct tape.

The Haliburton cases are something I seem to collect. They work well, and can be pretty cheap or free if you are patient. I have about 7 of them, different sizes. Oldest is from the 1940s. The tool box I got in 1974, I've become attached to it. It's full of tools, the parts and baling wire are in the cardboard boxes.

Stayed the night at a new friend's house, we have a mutual friend in Bisbee. There's a flathead powered A roadster right next to me as I type this.

I'm off soon to see about buying a 4.11 rear pumpkin, then head down to Seaside and hopefully meet up with more of the LeMons characters.

I'll be posting stuff on Instagram as the rally progresses. I've been practicing, because I only use it for this event, they use it to keep score of what checkpoints you got. I think I'll be using the #fabuloushudsonhornet hashtag for all my posts, but I'll find out for sure in the morning after I get the route directions.

 

Go to YouTube and see what projectfarm has to say about restore. Nothing will cure that scratch in the bore but restore can help the rest of his engine

Thanks for sharing the adventure Squirrel! Without this thread, would any of us be talking about Hudsons, thinking about Hudsons, or wishing we had a Hudson ourselves?

 

JB-Weld! Seriously though, I wondered if that might work. Fill in the scratch and then hone for cross-hatch as normal. Might help a little, for a little while?

I grew up in a Hudson family...love those old cars...my dad had 2 of them over the years...his dad use to sell them at the local Hudson dealership....

We used this stuff on hydraulic and air cylinders in the paper mill I worked in. Bead blast the grove to clean and hone after it set up. Pulled some of the cylinders years later and the repair was as good as if it was just done.

My old Indian motorcycle cooked a piston, big groove. Non sleevable, good cylinders unobtainium. Stuck it in a propane BBQ, got it hot, brazed up the groove, put the cover back down, let it cool slowly. Hone and serve. Worked deliciously. Don't know if you could do it to a car block.

 

"Hudsons had a chrome steel block!" , declared some hobyah my Mom knew for years...
He would tell me 'little known facts' about cars, submarines, vintage aircraft, and anything else he thought I'd 'admire' him for.
The man was laughable. A week before, I had removed the head on a Hudson at work (I was 16 then) and the ring ridge dictated a rebore!
This guy told my Mom and me that a cop (CHP) had followed him down the highway from Oakland, for 5 miles. Pulled him over, and walked up to his car just to tell him what a GOOD DRIVER he was!
The Hudson claim was 'over the top'. Hah! Even Squirrel has a 'score' here...

That reminds me of a old guy I know that said he was so good "on his homework" at night, that his wife got up in the morning,came around to his side of the bed, and shook his hand
