I called Dustin at Pohl Spring wined a little and he pulled a rabit out of his hat. Sneeking us in front of his workload fabbing me up a new main leaf to make the car a lot more drivable. I like low cars just as much as the next guy, but I really like drivable cars better. It will still come down a little once the body is on and you get a couple potatoe fed farm boys in there.

I could write a book an all the sketchy ways to work with a Model A rear spring. The first one I messed with 20 years ago nearly took my head off as I had no idea they were pre loaded. I about shit myself when I drove out the shackle and that S.O.B. stood up.....

Next up the wiring was fully completed

I know you going to miss the yellow and orange plug wires

So the car is together at least as good as it's going to be. The SU's were both flooding terribly. I spent a day and a half messing with the seats, and float arms. Putting the gravity bowl off the NW vintage dragster. Finally i even grabbed the ugly harley carb out of desperation.

Gawd I hate that setup, so I started digging on the internet and ran accross this
    Screenshot_20190806-184421_Chrome.jpg

Ok one more look at the SU's
    20190808_054849.jpg

Yep those assumed vacuum ports are bowl vents.......F-ME!

Take those caps off I stuck on there they work perfect:rolleyes: learned that one the hard way.
Next teething issue the 2 piece Mallory cap I love so much is leaking or shorted, good spark on the coil wire random spark on the plug wires.
    20190806_112746.jpg
So I called some friends for parts, one pulled the distributor out of his stocker but that required the stock ignition switch and model A coil. Another had a smaller Mallory dual point in pieces that saved the day! Thanks Aaron!
I now have it together and the car is running decently. Loading up this morning for Bonneville.

Glad you got your S/U fixed. That's how e learn is from our mistakes. It's the simplest things that give us the most problems. Anxious to see some B'ville pictures. Frank

That black 3 window coupe with the 70 B/M on the side, that's a local guy. His Instagram handle is rockabillyjesus, and he also has a beautiful custom Zephyr coupe.

Maybe, found a lot of people this week. Been having a blast. Worked threw a couple problems with the car. Found that some things are better than expected. Some things need some work. The car seems to be well received, that feels great. Having a great time despite the rain delay.

How does the car handle? Do you feel that you will need to change the springs(or shocks) any, & if so, how much? Any other changes/updates you are considering for this "build"? I love it, but I know every "1st time" needs a little "tweaking" of some sort.

Yeah there is some stuff that's way better than I thought it would be, the brakes I just grabbed a couple of Wilwood Master cylinders random sized off the shelf for a starting point. I don't think it could work any better. The car stops fast and straight. You can slide all four if you want to , but the front will lock up before the rear. Brake pressure is perfect. As for the ride on smooth the roads the car handles beautiful. You can let go of the steering wheel and it will drive straight as an arrow without any weird vibrations. How ever on bumpy roads and to no surprise that unsprung weight ratio really shows its ugly head. The rear spring still need some work as it's way too soft and sagged down as the weekend went on. And I will have to do a lot of work to lighten up the axles that I knew would be the case. Once we got the ignition and the SU's sorted out the carburetors perform very well and I have not tuned on them a whole lot so I am at this point thrilled with the SU carbs.
