Well, it's time to go! I'm leaving first thing in the morning, heading up to Bonneville for the beginning of Speed Week, then off to Monterey for Car Week. Not really, I'm signed up for the LeMons Rally, which takes off from there Tuesday morning, and comes back Saturday morning for the Concours d'LeMons.

This year's car is the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. I bought this 51 Hornet a few months ago, and have been working on it since. It had last been registered 30 years ago in Idaho, got hauled to California, then to the nearby town of Benson about 15 years ago. Someone did a bunch of work to it back when, but then let it deteriorate. I brought it back to life, but didn't do anything to make it look good (yet). I've put close to 2000 miles on it already, just test driving it--which is a lot of fun, but also a bit exciting when things break.

After a fresh oil change tonight, and a little radiator repair, lube job, and finishing up a lot of stuff to make it nice to drive, I think it's ready for the trip. But anything can happen, so I have a big roll of baling wire, and a bunch of spare parts that I won't need, and none of the ones I will need.

This is the first time I'm attempting a Rally by myself. My brother has an important work meeting back east this coming week, and couldn't make it. But I do have some old Rally friends who will be there, as well as some new ones, so I can probably bum along with another team that has a driver and a navigator, so I'll be able to find check points. And get help fixing stuff. And have fun helping fix their stuff.

Good luck to you. My first car was a '53 Hornet, Twin H Power. $50 car, ran good for 3 years. It was a tank.

This would look great as a hood ornament or mounted in the back window or dangling on a chain under the rear license plate for good luck! Just stroking ya, it's all I got @ 4:49 in the morn. Ya I know it's not a Squirrel...........................
