I was just wondering how many hambers out there live in minnesota. I will be moving there soon, with my soon to be wife. That is where she grew up. Thanks
I live in Duluth also.. I don't know about Hambers, but alot of the MSRA members told me to go to this site for information on old cars.. Al
I'm in southern Mn. The summers are great here, lots of car stuff going on. But the winters are so long. Welcome home.
that's too bad! i'm from Minnesota, it's a GREAT place to be from...a LOOONG ways from! but really, the hot rod scene ain't too bad there, as long as your not looking for a "scene", but instead plain ol hot rodders. plenty of good swaps and the BTT50's is great for a huge event.
We also have a bunch of Traditional Rodders that hang out together we are about 20 strong I do not know how many are on this board , but we are getting together Wednesday at the cruise night at the Forest Lake Walmart this Wednesday June 21st. If you need any help when you get here let us know. Jim H fron the Traditionals car club
Too true ,too short a ridin season and WAY to HIGH taxes, he lived about 3 Mi from me (saw your dad + mom planting shrubs the other day) and lives near where i used to in Colo. GREAT state miss it every winter
i am out here in st paul, just south of the minnesota fairgrounds. grew up in bloomington on the east side. lookin to hang out when you get here my fridge usually has a soda or two. the forest lake walmart group Jim is talkin about is a mnratrods yahoo group thing i think. i haven't had a chance to get the 57 up there yet this year, but there is a calendar on the group. not much of a "scene" out here unfortunately, but lees liquor lounge in minneapolis usually has a rockabilly night and we have a few good local bands worth tracking, you want any parts buy them before you come up here, lots of stuff is gone from the tall wet grass and the salt. there is porkys to cruise, but thats getting retarded from all the ricers, and n.stpaul has a regular 75 and older friday night cruise in and anoka has something, i found a list of events on the msra website. lance
You, my friend, are in for one HELL of a shock. I see you're in Austin. Minnesota is the antithesis of Texas. However, it is far colder in the winter there than it is hot in Texas in the Summer. That said, I love Minn. but I'm damn glad to be in the HOT HOT as opposed to the G-D COLD!.
Wait til you tell your southern friends how we walk on water and have green yards and white yards.. and btt50's weekend visit is never long enuf ..... It gets cold enuf that when you spit it freezes and audibly cracks before hittin the ground....and driving on flat sided tires is normal.. double check all your rides anti freeze mixture before you move and have all charging systems up to par wait until you drive in the snow/ice hahahaha sceeered yet? If your woman is from here she can put up with you and your whining easy... AS THE REST OF THE COUNTRY HAS NO MEASURMENT ON HAVING STAMINA AGAINST THE COLD....or MOSQUITOS THAT HAVE WOOD TICKS
We had it so cold up in Northern Mn, that someone pounded a 16 penny spike into a board with a frozen banana.. I live up in Duluth. Righy next to Lake Superior. The temp can be in the upper 80's, and the water will be in the mid 40's.
Paperdog.... i am from iowa so i know how the winters go. Not as extreme as minnesota's but we get our fair share of cold ass weather. have a good one
Saint Paul. Right by Groundpounder I just found out. If you are looking for real hot rods and real builders, they are here, just don't be afraid to approach people about their cars, we're shy up here.
I'm also from the South, that is Southern Minnesota, SPAM Town USA - Austin MN. Make sure you stop and see the SPAM museum.
