Hurts to see that, but the seller needs a lesson in PACKING 101! Plywood cut LARGER that the item and BOLTED to it would have been the way I'd pack it. AND NEVER EVER USE UPS!!!

  2. Got the motor all wrapped up for my 39 sedan. Got it painted and almost ready to go into the car, just have to swap the old Cal Custom oil pan onto it. And it's ready to go!!

Next week we will deck it and get the top loaded,,, man it’s a cluster fuck of moving shit around and sacrificing floor space not having this up. Things should get much better here shortly... it’s 14x36

^^^^^^^^^ I don't see a lot of space between the future deck and overhead insulation, what will get stored up there? Bob

  5. That’s not insulation, it’s just 6 mill plastic and helped way more that you’d think it ever could get us thru the winter.
The plastic will come down and there’s a vast amount of space up there.
This is the other end of the shop and It’s hard to get a good shot of it but those trusses are about 10’ tall to the peak. the ceiling height and the pallet rack is 12’ tall. BDF9DEB1-BBB7-40EE-9C3B-A4DE8AB56BBA.jpeg

What’s going up there on the mezzanine and the pallet racks is a bunch of stuff that’s got a good chunk of valuable floor space clogged up.
It’s so clogged I can’t get the stuff to the racks either.

Ever play this game? Well that’s what goes on here right now.

Afternoon coffee brake, replacing rotted studs in the back wall of the garage. First time in a while that I've seen the patio from inside the garage. That four pane window gets replaced some time soon. DSCF2909.JPG

That back wall of the garage repair went well, right side is done, I'll finish the window studding tomorrow. Everything I needed was here, and it turned up without any lost search time, materials and tools. Gaining a bit more space, and things are going to look neater.

Got call from a good friend this morning. He asked me if I had any black paint. Does the Pope live in the Vatican.? Dumb ass. His son is learning to drive. He gives him the 2008 Chevy pickup with Duramax diesel four-door with a rusty chassis. God forbid. So I wound up cleaning up and painting his sons chassis. . We father's never learned that fixing up the vehicle for your kid to drive is an exercise in futility.

Took my son a week and a half to destroy his first car after we spent six months getting it road worthy. Showing off for a girl.

  16. My father must be the smartest guy around... We bought a well used moped for me in the fall, nearly half a year before I was old enough to drive it. It was a Yamaha DT 50, black with red frame. He Said: son, that red frame should have been black, don't you think?

Young and stupid as I was, I went along, stripping the bike of all it's parts, cleaned, sanded and painted the frame.

I got the last piece I needed to get the moped running the day before my sixteenth birthday.

So my dad accomplished TWO things with this:

1: I could not drive around illegaly.

2: I knew EVERY BOLT AND NUT, so my dad only had to help me change the rod and bearings on the crankshaft one time the next two years until I got a car!
Everything else I had to repair myself!

    The formula is X = (N+1).

X is the correct number of Hemis. N is the current number of owned Hemis.

Remember the Samsonite gorilla commercials in the 70s? Pack anything you’re shipping as if that would be considered “gentle” handling. It doesn’t matter who you ship with, they all move too many packages too quickly to have time to care about your old stuff.

  24. It was miserably hot and humid yesterday, but I did get 1/2 day on garage construction, and did some stripping on the new (old) front axle that is going back into the 55. I have to make a decision on whether I go back to drum brakes, or switch to disks.

Framing is finished, next step it some blue stain on that window, then nail on the plywood under the window. The search is on for the needed clapboard siding.

  29. Sandblasted today. I just finished sandblasting out in the 90 degree sun with high humidity. Truth be told....I hated it. Wish I had waited til winter, ha ha.
Some parts of working on old cars just isn't fun at all if you don't have the proper place and tools .

I feel your pain. This was me, South Florida, July 2003. I couldn't do it today. I'm a geezer now and my Mark I systems can't regulate my body temperature as well anymore.
