Is there reason for all the black burnt soot on the spark plugs ?

So I didn’t want too drill in the dash
And I had this 50’s block off plate filed the pins off
And adhesive the magnets too the dash hopefully
It stays from the pot holes

I like that a lot. Looks like it belongs there. You could even wedge a little cardboard or plastic box or something into the old radio face hole and this would basically become a tiny glove box door with magnets instead of hinges. Would work for registration and whatnot. Either way this looks real clean and period-appropriate.

Took the bumpers off
Was wondering what the best way too measure fitment
for nerf bars.
Nerf bar guy says I need too make a template any ideas?

Leave it RED with Tan interior, WITH steel wheels W/W tires, and drive the heck out of it, please leave '34 bumpers on it ...fit good, look good IMO
less work and expense, equals more drive time..
UNLESS your wealthy, and you JUST GOTTA re-live history.. AND spend lots of Moola How many cars do you know get taken apart for rebuild and never get back to having fun? I know a heck of a lot of them,
and please TAKE LESS ANGLE SHOTS, I HURT MY NECK.....!!!!
These cars are SUPPOSE TO BE FUN, It's very presentable, Drive the tread off the tires for a few years.. then decide if you want to take it apart and let it set in your garage.. (while life happens )

(There is MY plan, and God's plan, & MY Plan don't mean a damn.)
I have 6 projects, at 75 years old. ( how the hell did THAT happen?. )

Can you send the nerf bar guy the bumpers with the brackets bolted on? They'd be perfect templates, shows the frame rail spacing, bolt hole placement and tail pan angles, etc. A pain to ship but would work.

Also, have you considered dying the vinyl? You could change the 80's tan to white or whatever the car had back then without reupholstering. The current upholstery has a nice pleat pattern, its just the color that's off.

I had a rear bumper on my own full custom in 1960 for a very short time I didn't like. I had full rolled rear pan and bumper brackets were chrome and no spacer pan between body an bumper. I looked at it that way for about two weeks<just didn't like it. I took the bumper off the bracket an stared at them for a day. Ended up making some custom chrome nerf up rights { 5 in. high} that bolted in an covered bumper bracket holes on to brackets. I liked that. Was going to same thing to front also,but got a new at the time,60 Corvair front bumper from body shop trash pile with a small twist in it I could fix. It was both small an just "V" right , fit super an looked good. Seeing the chrome brackets with bumper took me back too 1960,thanks

 

There might be a local guy that might make them I might just let him borrow the brackets for sizing

LIVE WITH IT, EMBRACE IT.....
I realize, some people do not like fenders a slight shade different from the body color,

I would understand if it was a door or a hood,
but red is EXTREMELY hard to match, its possible, you could spend money, for the change and fenders STILL MIGHT not match.. it depends on temperature, primer, drying time, and other factors.. ALSO, how the sun hits the body panels, AND if the body and the pieces were all sprayed on the same day and conditions.
I would be so happy with car, I would enjoy it proudly..
Unless you are wealthy, I would enjoy it, and when the rock chips and bugs take their toll from extreme use, only then would I paint.

but that just me.........

I would advise, "live with it" as if it was intentional ..

I'm good with chrome especially if the rest of the Hotrod is running it...the Late Langy was a huge Stainless fan... polished mind you and it did look smart.

I can't recall but did the Nerf Bars/Bumpers use those bumper brackets?​

PUT THOSE CHROME ONES BACK ON WITH "34 BUMPERS..

Save yer money and take your wife to Olive Garden or even Denny's


Here's a hint: For the front :: on each side, one bracket goes on the inside of frame, and one goes on outside, sandwiching frame. It then Makes bumper fit better, and makes a slight bow in it.

That can be the plan when you own the car someday...except you probably shouldn't take his wife out to lunch!

 

My guess is that in the period the car was built, chrome would have been a lot more popular, since it was still cheap and mild steel is easier to bend and shape into nerf bars. It's probably the more expensive route now, but if price is no object, chrome would be my choice, for the look.

 

Not many good chrome guys here in Austin plus with car shows coming up in October I’m crunch for time so they will be made out of stainless steel and then after the car show season is over I’ll get the properly chromed
