...that would make a true nostalgia freaks eyes pop out and do a dance on the floor in front of you...geeze what a time capsule...yeah make sure you get the discarded pieces...I keep my fingers crossed for a revisit to it's former glory...however you are suggesting that will not be the case...at least you captured it to grasp some of what will soon be lost...:(

Just found this today. Taken by Lyle Willits at The Jalopy Showdown Invitational, 2012. So, of course, I have to post another picture of the heap

The "Hot Rod Lincoln" in the song was a V-8.

Not totally up on the whole story...perhaps I'm mixing up 2 versions of Hotrods with the same Title. I believe there's at least 2 or more Purple People Eaters...

From the bits I read the Song was written in 57 and was about a race...that songwriter actually bought a Model A (pictured) Hotrodded it and it was a part of his life till he passed away...

    Hot Rod Lincoln 2nd verse:
"It's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up.
That Model A Vitimix makes it look like a pup.
It's got eight cylinders; uses them all.
It's got overdrive, just won't stall."

Not that it matters, the A with the V-12 Flathead is great.

    Charlie Ryan Version...

    Commander Cody Version (Lyrics Changed)

Now I get it...you'd think he would have wrote his song based on his reality and I guess he did...Cody's version was 1971...I was to young for even the 71 version so yeah there's almost 6 or more remakes of this song and in a strange coincidence Von Franco's Kookie Clone is in the Cody version...

Well ,OK then. I found one video with Charlie Ryan & Commander Cody pictured that used the 8 cylinder line so I thought I had it. I'm liking the 12 cylinder Model A more now.

  18. There was a rhread on the Hot Rod Lincoln on here years ago. It went something along the lines of someone with a Model A at a car show in Oregon or Washington state being approached by a well dressed older gentleman who told him "I have a Model A, and I wrote a song about it."...I'll see what I can find...

I did post a link to a thread on it on Post#3369 no doubt there are several. @mike bowling posted some pics of it back some time ago in this thread...I think it was the real McCoy too...Well maybe not but definitely inspired and its still around so I dunno...

...What's interesting is the Jot Roadster in the OP above has a track nose on it to cover the carburetion...I'd like to see a better pic in that configuration.

Jot Horne of Bell, California really liked alternative options in Hotrod and built some wild, visually stunning rides...
The above are two of them...possibly both have been featured here before but again worth revisiting..

The Top pic was powered by a Ranger A/C engine with the other Duesenberg Straight 8 and were apparently very loud...
