I'm using one on my T coupe. Don't understand why no one else seems to have latched onto these. They have a Pittman arm that looks like a F-100 and a spline end that will work with practically any steering column and were available up to 1971. The only awkward part is that they take a larger tie rod end than the usual early Ford units but still take 11/16 NF thread. I think it is vastly overlooked. Looks like a nice box. It looks to me like the rag joint would make these just about universal and make it easier to line up the shaft with the box. And a steering shaft/column like F-100 (early enough to NOT have a key in the column) that came from a floor shift truck would be easy to connect to this and look perfect with a shortened turn signal lever. Can we assume that rebuild parts would still be readily available for these? Or were they bulletproof since they came in trucks; therefore probably not needing to be rebuilt?
I may give this a go....it looks low profile enough to not be in conflict with header. My other route would be the cowl steering set up....
The only problem I saw (had) with this box in my Dodge pickup is the number of turns lock to lock which is typical of a truck box (a lot of turns) in order to make turning resistance with a load better. I changed this box out for a Toyota box with fewer turns. - EM
hello, they are 22 to one ratio the helical worm is mopar only to the right - not the same as chevy Saginaw - left the pitmann arm points upwards - the other way to a 64 f100 = down the sector shaft is too short for a boxed frame they can be reversed. - so the 2 bolt holes point rearwards they basically have 525 Saginaw internals -although slightly different you could fit the input worm from an aluminum mopar box in them for a higher ratio - if you can find one... I don't think you can mix these with Saginaw 525 or fords mustang 68 manual boxes, the mesh isn't in the correct place. be carefull too as I think the input spline although 5/8 36 is specific to mopar they are 1 1/16 out - I think ------------------- so theoretically using the core fitted with a 16-1 vette worm, 525 chevy splined sector the pitman points down but is still correct - push pull you could fit a pre 64 combined shaft find the screw on bearing housing end that takes a column - f-100 does not fit them the physical layout is real good for an open frame though I have a real good one in bits with the worm reversed if anyone in the uk wants it also have a 16-1 vette worm and a 525 splined sector oh and a complete c10 4wd manual box oh and a couple of rhd 37/8 steering boxes oh and a recon 900 series c10/20 4wd box
