A cousin recently emailed me some old family pictures including some that have been cleaned up and colorized. I wish I knew who has the picture I remember seeing of Grandpa sitting in his Model T roadster in front of his house. But the picture of Grandpa and Uncle Floyd sitting on the fenders of their T's is pretty sweet. And I really like the colorized version, Grandpa is on the left. The guy at the wheel sure looks like Grandpa. The man in the back seat looks like my Great Grandpa John. That isn't the roadster that I saw a picture of Grandpa sitting in though. Maybe the family car??? Grandpa in his fancy driving buggy. I'm assuming pre-T? Grandpa and Grandma Grandpa and Grandma's wedding picture. He was 28 and she was 17. Colorized wedding picture.
some probably won't get it but that is really cool things to have...…….I'm jealous !!! Thanks for posting these !
Those are some Wonderful Family photos, Love the color versions. Do you think the guys are arguing about whose T was faster?! Thanks for sharing.
Very cool pics! Here's one of my grandpa back in the early '40s, taking a nap on the '33 chevy coupe....I dragged this car home 10yrs ago and it's next on the list for a build.
Cool! Napping on the shady side of the car. Those Chevys of that era were good looking cars. There is a 32 Roadster that I drool over around here.
Great stuff including the siff as boards standing beside the family car family photo that is traditional in all old family albums. I have my dad's old albums and his mom's family album that goes back to some really early box brownie snapshots.
Yeah I like them, something different you don't see very often mostly because they had way more wood than the Fords so people would pass on them, I think. GM owned Fisher which owned a hardwood forest the size of Michigan so they kept with the wood framing much longer than ford, unfortunately.
Were your Grandpa's from a big city? My son just married a girl from a big city. She just got her license at 24 years old a couple of months ago. When you live out in a rural area you are more likely to drive than in an area where they have good public transportation. Out here it's more of a necessity.
My Grandpa on my Dads side never drove either. But my Great Grandpa on Moms side did as well as her Dad, my Grandpa. I have a pic on the pc at home of him standing in front of his 40 Ford, I’ll try to remember to post it this weekend.
Always thought this was a cool shot of my dad on the right and his older brother on the left. Lost him last year at 92 yrs old. He had a good run.
Pic of a pic of my Grandpa. Never knew him, he passed away a year before I was born. I think that is a 40 pickup?
Unfortunately for me, both of my grandfathers were "rail men". My fraternal grandfather was a conductor on the Milwaukee Road and my maternal grandfather worked for the "Minneapolis Rapid Transit Company" (the street car company). As such, they both disdained automobiles and took great advantage of the fine streetcar system Minneapolis had back in the day. Ironically, both men were killed by being struck by cars is 1945
It sure looks like a 40 pickup to me. I got to know both of my grandpas. My Fraternal Grandpa died at the age of 61 when I was 3 1/2 but I still have memories of him. My Maternal Grandpa died at the age of 84 in 1979 just shortly before I married my 1st wife. He had told me he wouldn't make the wedding and I didn't believe him when he said it but he turned out to be right. Wow! Both of them!
