It's time to put out some notification of this years East West Reliability Run for 2019. It will be held at the Monitor Hot Rod Cafe( Monitor Washington just north of Wenatchee Washington)
    on September 14 2019.

This is the run that was originally started by The Inland Emperors of the Spokane Washington area.
The challenge was and still is to see if the West side of the Cascade mountains Seattle area or East side ( Spokane WA western Idaho) bring the most cars. They used vantage Washington as a meeting site for the run for several years before moving to the event to the Hot Rod Cafe in Monitor.

The Inland Emperors have moved on to other interests and responsibilities but Bill Cordell known as Rusty Bill on the HAMB has been helping to continue the run for three years now.
So if you want to get your Flathead powered car out for a run please put this event on your calendar.
You must arrive by noon to be counted in the challenge to see which side of the mountains wins this year.

If you can't bring your flathead powered car there is usually room to park your Hot Rod on the grass by the orchard to the South of the main Flathead gathering.

Go to the address below for info on the run location.

Not much chatter about this yet. Any of you planning to come?

  5. Been wanting to attend this since it started......that weekend usually doesn't work for me. Kind of a long haul too, I'm 4 hrs from Spokane. Still "might" get there this year....

Well that is a long trip for one day event but we have had participants from Colorado and California in the past. Be sure to check in and introduce yourself as you may win the long distance award. If you do make it over for the event. maybe you could drive through Spokane and grab onto a few of those Spokane guys and drag them over here.

Keep those reminders coming. I missed the Bickleton show today because I didn't see a reminder. one of the second most laid back event in the state outside of the flathead run. I missed the home made pie they sell too.

Nice poster, but Nothing like waiting till the last minute to promote this ? I would think that this would potentially be one of the busiest days for the Hot Rod Cafe if they wanted to promote it.

It sure would be great if this run was in June for us west siders. Lots happening in September around here for real hot ford flathead cars.

Will do Mr48chev. Consider this the reminder for today.

Dirty Dug that's an idea worth considering!

I'll be there with my camera hanging around my neck. that is if you don't let me forget like I did last year, first one I missed since it started.
We usually make a loop of it. Leaving here and going up through Eberg, over Blewett and then to Monitor, Then after the show hitting the Pybus Public Market to poke around a bit and a couple of other favorite shops and head home though Quincy, George and back home by one route or the other. Three different routes to go or return on and all are within ten miles of the same distance.
If your wife goes be careful of that furniture store across the road from the hot rod cafe and the show. Really nice stuff in there and some real high end furniture. Including a chair that cost more than all the parts and pieces I have stashed away for the 48 and the model A combined. My back wanted to take it home even though my wallet won out with a big NO.

Pretty talkative bunch of lurkers we have here........Hopefully they will let their flatheads do that talkin on the 14th. It's time for you guys to round up your travel buddies and make some plans for this run. If I was traveling highway 2 from the west I would be planning to leave home early and stop at the Sultan Bakery for one of their delicious breakfasts. where do you Spokane area guys like to stop? I have enjoyed a good breakfast at the corner Cafe in Creston.

Okay guys I hope your cars are ready for the trip to Monitor tomorrow. Drive safe and have fun. It should be a nice cool day to run those flatty's over the mountains and across the wheat field plains. See you there.

It was a nice cool day for chatting with like minded friends at the Monitor Hot Rod Cafe this Saturday. The turnout was pretty good with a few cars coming from the slightly rainy West side of the mountains. The East side was represented by several local cars and a couple from the Yakima area. I didn't see any cars from Spokane. Rusty Bill can correct me on that if needed. As we had advertised the run was also open to over head powered cars in separate parking on the south side of the grassy field. Some came and stayed for just a little while and I did not get to chat with them to find out where they drove in from. I forgot to take my camera so I took a few pictures with my phone. 20190914_090829.jpg

20190914_125310.jpg Well that's it for this year. Sorry about the crappy photos. Please bring your flathead next year. Maybe we should rename it the the flathead vs overhead reliability run.....just kidding. We were happy to see so many guys show up this year and make it a fun event. The Cafe is a great place to hold an event and they are happy to provide the venue.

Wish I had been able to go, I did end up seeing a lot of my cousins that I don't get to see at the memorial service for a cousin though.
The only sharable scene I got yesterday was a site that Oregon rodders who drove up 97 would have seen on the way. IMG_8290.JPG

I see there was a Studebaker and Plymouth there this year. Ford's must have been tired, hot and panting for water after chasing the flathead sixes up the hills.....

It's always fun to see who wins the race to the tree. Rather mungy weather all over the state probably kept a lot of guys at home or closer to home.
A lot of guys do the show up. walk around and visit and leave thing too. If you get there late you might miss several of those.
