Just to further bolster your educating the members of this very common mistake in identification, here are some Patents, Clearly Titled by their Designers... What is interesting is the last drawing is a Deuce/1932 Grille and Radiator shell and it is actually focused on and titled as a Radiator Shield which is in fact what we refer to as the Grille... Quoted from the 32 descriptive text. "Figure 1 shows a front view of my improved radiator shield in combination with a radiator shell" He does mention Grille just once in reference to grilles but not directly connecting it to the Shield... https://patents.google.com/patent/U...rity:19320101&after=priority:19250101&page=10 Credit to Artist's, Owner's
The glass replicas, steel replicas vs real henry is always the great divide... 32's have been popular for a long time, funny thing is the price bubble has kinda started to pop, the model as are rising in popularity due to being a cheaper build. The problem with the mainstream shows, its all bubble gum cars getting picked. Model A will never get the attention the 32 does, same for a A gets more attention than a T does.. Then 33-34 don't get the attention the 32 does.. I have owned 6 model As total.. all of them had a cool look... But I never put a 32 shell on a single one of them either. I like the 32 shell, has a good look, but vs a 30-31 shell the radiators that fit in each shell are the same. I guess in my age I don't mind the glass stuff as much some days... It gives someone the ability to own a dream vehicle at a fraction of the price some days. Not my cup of tea but to each their own. Hell the T bucket fad years ago died off, fiberglass bodies at every swap meet, and what's funny is in 20-30 years there will be 32 fiberglass bodies at the swap meet and will go for 1000 bucks probably. All fads die.... too many fad/tv cars built these days, the bubble will burst.
Damn, when I saw the title and the poster was GMC Bubba, I thought we were about to get a lesson in high performance Model A distributors!
In NZ a very glass looking ''32'' roadster with no old or genuine parts is worth more than a nice steel Model A hot rod just because it resembles or is called a 32. Most glass cars in NZ really look like glass cars and most are confussed looking. At LARS this year i got a bit tired of o lot of the same looking 32's and really enjoyed the A's and T's. JW
OK guys been sick and wanted to stir the shit. Seems as if i did 65 replys all over the place.....Getting better every day. My next pot stirrer is : IF YOU CAN"T SEE IT AT 35 MPH ,IS IT WORTH HAVING OR IS IT A WASTE OF MONEY ????
I like model As so much I have 3. I use this one the most. 59ab, 39 3spd, A rearend with 3.54 gears. Not afraid to drive it, with many miles on it since I put it back on the road in 2008.
What about that , High performance Model A distributor build? I know hoe you feel Jim, I just had a triple bypass, and the anesthetic is still messing with me, I have been told I am cantankerous! AND yes I too am getting better every day...
My 28 Tudor on a model A frame, 28/29 nickel radiator shell and I really like the look. 3” chop is just right. I think the “smaller” 28/29 looks great but I guess I’m just biased. Cliff Ramsdell
Cant afford a 32 anything...can afford a Model A.....so.....I change mine around to suit my taste from time to time...
When you give a Model A a frontal lobotomy with a deuce shell, you've lost 1/2 the A's personality. An A-bone is NOT a deuce wannabe, and a deuce will never be an A! Okay, I've hung my ass out there...everybody have a kick.
Seems like a good morning to revive this old thread. I like the look of the model A visor as a marker for a model A. Nice hot rod, not mine, 32 grille, good colour, good stance, good photo, maybe a little street roddy.
This one is more realistic, maybe more to my taste. Looks to be mildly chopped, original rad, I think, good colour, nice caps, banger motivation, looks like a ton of fun. Not mine, but we can hope.
Now this one really calls to me, again not mine. More chop, more better paint colour, more survivor appearing. Original lights and grille, I think, nice wires and tire size.
How about one more- for sale here a while ago. More sixties style, still great paint presence, maybe 36 headlights, should be on the road rather than up on blocks.
My original steel '29 on '32 chassis with '32 grill still identifies as a '29 but it does have a "trans".
