Not stacked covers . that's a spacer to increase clearance for things like roller rockers and or a stud girdle. Smokey Unick installed big block rockers on a small block chev. He heated and dimpled the valve covers with a ball peen hammer to gain clearance.

 

Yep! He was using big block screw in studs on a small block....

 

I’ve read Smokey’s book probably 10 times and every time I find one more amazing idea he had! (Most of wich they made a new rule about soon after) hahahaha
