Norb, it's always good to get close to the competition, makes them nervous.

Unfortunately, one of the bugs involved the left rear wheel studs working loose and partially coming out of the axel shaft. One actually snapped off. New studs are supposed to be here at 7:30 am, Thursday.

Otherwise, the slicks are mounted, the front end aligned, and basically everything else was taken care of. Hopefully, the 59 will make it to The Glory Days Meet. It'll be great to see my oldest brother drag racing for the first time since 1967.

Yeah.....All the trim on a 59 Impala probably does add up to a few lbs. LOL!!! We're figuring that it'll tip the scales at around 4000 lbs.

Anyway, all but one piece of stainless is back on. The clips for the passenger door piece haven't been found.

Thanks Jay. Sorry to hear that you can't make it.

I'm ready as well. We'll all be heading over to the strip at around 4pm.

Last minute commitments kept me from getting my car ready. Really wish we were there. Everyone have fun and be safe.

Thanks for the kind words! I enjoyed talking with you guys yesterday in the pits!

  17. OK,..so the first Glory Days event is history, no doubt one we won't forget due to the extreme heat wave,...hope everyone survived with out any major problems.
I think the track did an excellent job of taking care of things at this event with the weather they had to contend with.
All the counts were down,...the racers, swappers and spectators, but it was still a nice event and a great tribute to the Meltdown crew who started this whole shebang.
Thanks to everybody who supports these events,...even in that heat, you all are true gearheads.

That would be my Dad and Brother. I had to stay back and work getting outlets run for A/C units in a body shop. They said you guys had some cool cars!! Is the '64 GTO new?

It was the first event for the wagon and the 64. It belongs to a friend of mine Tyler, another hard core Pontiac guy! Both cars made several trouble free passes.

Seen on for sale in the KC area a couple weeks back on Craigslist and wondered in that happened to be the same car.
