Here's a few I've rat holed over the years. 1 - An unmatched pair 26'' Hollywood Deeptones 2 - Matched pair 26'' Douglass steelpacks from a Douglass dual kit 3 - From the top- Kenco 24'' steelpack, 30'' Smitty, & a 36'' unknown brand steelpack 4 & 5 - 2 of the first Walker Continentals, well before the bullet shape came out, & a chromed Fenton steelpack that was on a Fenton display rack in our local muffler shop, installed, & welded back together after the end fell out. 6 & 7 - 3 Mitchell fiberglass, 2 in the oval shape for clearance (?)
Nice collection. I have an old NORS pair of the bullet shapes on the 32 but they are not straight through. They probably don't have any packing, maybe some kind of dual chambers?
In 1982 my OT Chevelle had probably the last set of true GM Corvair turbocharger mufflers. I worked in a Chevy dealer and my parts manager spent about a week scrounging for the pair.
Do you have to ask the muffler shop if you can dig thru their dumpster behind the shop or do they save them for you?
An exhaustive search of my junk turned up 3 sets of headers and 3 sets of ram's horns but zero mufflers. Which is a good thing since I'm baffled most of the time as it is.
Unfortunately, I have unintentionally collected quite a few pairs of Flowmaster mufflers that I have removed from cars I have bought. I can't stand them.
Maybe we should "cut out" all this talk as it could resonate later and could lead to a Duel! I hear you load and clear
Oh hell yea, my wife thinks I keep some strange stuff but I can't match this. She contributed to my Budweiser Christmas mug collection for years though. Muffler wise : There may or may not be a pair of glass packs that were on my 51 Merc out in the shed if they didn't get put on something that I forgot about. Those could end up on the 48 with a cleanup and a fresh coat of header paint. Then there is that little turbo out there that will find a home on the Ranger 4x4 that my trailer hauled home the other day. That little bugger will be the parts chasing beater drive in all weather rig if someone with more money than sense doesn't fall in love with it though.
Maybe someone can help on this thread, I got this muffler display about 35 years ago from my ex-brother in law, he had it in a speed shop he ran in the the sixty's in Wisconsin, I would love to know the brand of mufflers/headers ? it looks like it had a sign or clamp on the top, It is/was bright pink and as you can see the lower stands are glass packs and it is definitely factory made, anyone ?
Smart because I kept 2 Turbo mufflers I now use on my race car when I test run it. Dumb because I have 50 Series Flowmaster that came in a kit for my OT pickup and the stock one from it...I keep too much s**t ...
