Put this set up on a 57 312 and it's kept the engine bay clean. Has electric fuel pump so with mechanical pump breather would need relocated. 312 PCV system 002.jpg 312 PCV system 001.jpg

That breather is not on the fuel pump hole. The fuel pump is mounted to the timing cover not the block.

  4. A PCV retrofitted on any engine is pretty much a win -win situation.

  5. Nice, what hole is that in the block that yo are tapped into? Guess it is one that goes into the valley area? did you drill it or is it a stock hole?

That is the orginal hole for the road draft tube in early motorshttps://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=y+block+road+draft+tube+images&fr=yfp-t&imgurl=https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ford-trucks.com-vbulletin/800x598/80-image_f8d188fb861df8c3d40dfa36d7bd06ec19f92e9d.jpg#id=4&iurl=https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ford-trucks.com-vbulletin/800x598/80-image_f8d188fb861df8c3d40dfa36d7bd06ec19f92e9d.jpg&action=click

  7. If that is plumbed into the back runners of the intake it will run lean on the cylinders they feed. That is not by any means a good set up! The only vacuum that port should be hooked up to is a brake booster, stationary vacuum. JW

Yes that’s correct. The road draft tube location is not a good place for the PCV.

And it’s especially not good plumbing it into the back of the manifold

The rear cylinders will definitely be affected.

Study the diagram of the 60s Ford PCV system and you’ll see the right way to plumb a Y block PCV system.

Better is the later design that puts the PCV in a baffled hole in the back of the valley pan.

This is how I did my Y Blocks PCV.

  10. Also the carb or center one on three twos must be metered for a pcv system or it will run like it has an air leak, which is exactly what it has. JW

Definatley need a baffling system leading out of any engine. The 61-64 292's had these in the valley cover at the rear like the diagram shows.

  12. My draft tube connected on the valley pan not the block, see "blue one" photos.

I was mistaken I thought you were talking about the hole that his breather cap was connected too. The late blocks that had the breather on the side of the block cast over were much better less core shift . By sonic testing I found a late 292 block that I ran on the street with a 3.91 bore. It was a 296 inch motor ran a 3.1 inch 239 crank at the time I was into short stroke motors.
