I had my Wash 1937 license plates for about 8 years and only recently noticed they ended with 666. They are beautiful plates and have the Spokane county prefix which is why I wanted them for my car. Never noticed the numbers until my wife and I were looking at them recently.

Anybody else as blind as me when purchasing plates?

Years ago my mother brought a plate back from Florida as I had collection of plates hanging in the garage. I told her I already had a plate from Florida and she explained, "not like this one". I kept looking at it not seeing what she was talking about till she pointed out the state that was printed on the plate was upside down.

  4. 1928 Mass plate with Cod fish swimming away from the state. Fishing industry cried fowl and the next year it was changed so the fish was swimming towards Mass.:D 20170709_093047.jpg 07092017.jpg

On an OT car about a month ago, a guy came out of the burger joint (Mikies in Everett, Wa.), and headed to his car. I asked if he ever got any razzing about his license plate. He said no, why? I told him it says BOZO then the numbers; he looked at it and said he'd never noticed it before. I guess a BOZO would't. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  6. What I find interesting about old license plates is the fact that some people think they are made of gold.
At some swap meets they are asking $30.00 to $100.00 for a half decent plate.
    Supply & demand I guess.
Another question is, why do people always run a screw through the plate itself, even though there are already mounting holes in every plate?

  10. They are using the plates to shingle barn roofs and the holes are not in the place they want them?

  11. In the last few years, I've been buying lots of license plates (+150), in one group the seller included a porcelain 1916 Connecticut plate with my street/house number on it, 2323, they sold it as a metal plate, not porcelain, guess they didn't know.

I have a 1922 Ohio plate, # 460 289. Had to toss that out there, looking at @1927graham 's post above.

  14. My C cab has a 1923 Mohave county Arizona plate. I only baught it as a 23 plate. When I used it to register is when I found out it was my home county.

  15. I thought this was pretty cool – @HelmuthBrothers found this New Jersey plate (he lives in NJ) in an antique store and put it on his 1930 Model A coupe.

  16. Not only is the HelmuthBrothers plate cool, but the car itself is one extremely righteous ride. Love that car!

A good buddy of mine had to do some tall explaining to get this plate made before the ministry would allow it. 472.jpg

Mine came off a chicken coop. Two nail holes I gotta fill. I need to get it out and finish it, I de-rusted it using electrolysis, then put it up in the cabinet. Just haven't thought about it lately.

  30. When my Son moved from Maui in 2008 he shipped his 51 Merc lead sled. Matson Shipping put it in a forty foot container behind a Porsche with "MY BABY" license plates. Shipper did not set parking brake correctly. Merc jumped the blocks and every wave it smashed into the back of "My Baby". Porsche was in hundreds of accidents that voyage!
No real damage to Merc, but "My Baby" was a total loss.
