Can anybody give me a way to tell the difference between 65's and 66-67 Chevy II? I post some I thought were 65 and within minutes the un-named mod deletes them as beyond the 65 cutoff.

I got mine out yesterday and drove it to the shop for a little maintence since the gf decided she was going to drive it to a car show 2 hours away this weekend. I think if I did something different with the front seats I would enjoy driving it a lot more. Anybody know any newer, more comfortable bucket seats that wouldnt look out of place with the stock '65 ss interior?

    t

It was purely informational as he didn’t know the difference between a 1965 and 1966 nova. And I did not want to post the 66 pics on the thread

The sheet metal is the same from 62-65 which all carry a similar body styling to the 63 Impala. The bodywork changed for 66/67 and they look very similar for these two years and are pretty much the same. The grills are different and some other trim details. But the 66/67s have some curves similar to the 66/67 Chevelles where the 1st gen ChevyIIs were the true box Nova..

@Nova Thug @Flamed48 not to worry a mod gave me the scoop already thanks. :)

The easiest way is the 65 and older have a rounded wheel opening and 66 and later it is more squared off. Plus the newer ones have eyebrows. :)

I always thought the '66/'67s took a lot of styling cues from the tri 5 Chevys. Pontoon headlights, the upsweep of the quarter panel ending in a blunt fin and a flat trunk lid rolling straight down to the bumper. Post cars are my favorite and just got another one on the road like my first car. Wasn't a fan of '65s when I was younger but they grow on you after a while.

You could be on to something making that connection I hadn’t really thought of it that way. After a long run of jet age aviation inspired automotive designs kinda ran their corse the new trend in “muscle car” design treatments came on putting hips and curves that had been absent for a number of years.. In 65 the GM full size platform was a major redesign with all new chassis going to the new perimeter frame and the first year to develop more curves and contouring in the body lines. Chevelle and ChevyII followed suit with new designs in the 66 model year and 67 introduced the new F body platform which was a pure muscle car from the get go..

As most, in the background I've seen a pretty sweet looking slightly OT Chevelle in some of The Professor's posts.
He's covers all the bases, just not here.

^^ When I see pics like the one above I get an understanding of why some members
aren't interested in new photos, especially those of Chevy IIs and tri-five Chevys.
It seems that everyone is building the same car. This photo sends me straight back
to Oswego Drag Raceway in 1968-69. Time to board the way-back machine.
