Just got this 65 Caliente, real straight and solid, and came with Crites hood and bumpers. Just needs a 427- happen to have a few, and a couple sets of injectors
The Falcon is a nice car , but the tubs kill it fast for me . The Comet AFX is as cool as it gets . Keep those FEs runnin , Henry’s way better idea .
Falcon looks badass but are funnycar slicks really needed on a small/light car Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I think there are two, quite different, cars involved in this thread....hopefully the Comet will end up looking like it should. I expect it will.
The 62 in my avatar is an original 406-6V car with a 427 in it now, C6 w/4K converter and 5.14 gears. It's now sitting on jackstands, as I sold the 1970 vintage Blue Streak slicks to a very worthy restoration project, now owned by this really big guy. Look close, you can see GOODYEAR as the car arrived in Nam. Below, with the wrong tires. Anybody here in country in 70 and see the traveling show?
@MeanGene427 Your Comet is awesome! Looks like you have a great car to start with. A/FX cars are so cool, hoping you stay true to the 60's era drag cars and not pro street that beautiful Comet. (But, at the end of the day it's your car) Not hijacking your thread...but I'm thinking you may find this useful. My father built a 1965 Comet drag car a few years ago. I threw some build photos on the HAMB. Here is a link...maybe a little inspiration/motivation... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...garage-find-to-grandpas-cfx-drag-car.1086964/ I'm watching your build thread, Gene! Looking forward to seeing your progress and build come together. Congrats on the killer find and good on you for restoring a Comet.
I like the Falcon, and the way it's setup it's for sure more purposeful than any A/FX'er would be. Look forward to a rompin stompin FE Comet build.
The Falcon is a serious go-fast piece, and the chassis will certify to 7.50, but you can't run tube frame in the Nostagia A/FX class. Those shock towers have to go- even with the Crites kit, still kinda tight. Might go with a drop axle and tuck it up tight, ain't gonna be one of those ridiculously high faux "gassers". Like to see how those 48" wide rear ends fit under there, the 35 spline has ladders, and the 40 spline has an Alston 4-link
Huh?!!..There are NO tubs?! One Baaaaad look'in Falcoon. Love the looks of the Cali Merc too. It's saying..."side oil me please"! 6sally6
