History Found: Master's "Dragcoup"

The new version is good, original is the best! The way the front fenders were bobbed is pretty wild.

 

I agree whole heartedly, that car just looks mean and nasty.

 

So cool! Three things I love about it-
It survives, although changed.
The owner knows its history.
He is enjoying his chapter in its story and driving it.
Maybe the next caretaker will restore it to its former drag guise, but both are great looking versions.

 

Looking @ those last shots, I’m glad that it has survived, ended up back on the street and is being enjoyed.
So many ended up being discarded by their prior owners, either parted out or shoved in a shop corner or somewhere else outdoors. “Like a Mind, A Murray built 3W Coupe is a Terrible Thing To Waste” .

Just was reminded of a pic I saw of the old Mooneyham/Sharp #554 coupe, weathering out behind someone's shop...Hope it was 'rescued'...

Yes that's a very familiar iconic Racer/Hotrod...mixed feelings from my end...that's life in the fast lane...

 

Those pics are taken in San Diego, I recognize two of the cars in the background . maybe a Prowlers member?

 

Cool car! Goes to show small block chevys are as traditional as they come.

 

My measuring eyeball sees the black car with a bit less of a chop, but I may be wrong.

 

My first reaction was. Oh no!!!
But after looking closer its been revived and well taken care of.
To us the original version may be more beholding but to the general masses, the final version is the one that’ll attract the crowd.

 

The first pic in the blog and second pic are definitely different heights...Maybe it was unchopped......One has a wiper the other not...and the firewall was added obviously...mixed up pics?

 

I am glad it still exists but I hate to see old race turned into street cars.

Race cars should stay race cars.

Did you see the louvered firewall on the race car? Kinda like a screen door on a submarine.

if it is a copy, they even made the door misalignment the same.

 

Roof was raised by current owner.

 

For sure the same car garrented, know it well..

 

Raising the roof which is I would suspect quite rare has been discussed here on occasion so that makes it all connect more seamlessly...thanks @26 roadster...do you have any historic pics kicking around please and thank you mainly because this was such an unusual Monster...

To clarify, I wasn’t questioning the Coupe’s origin...just use of the word “found” to characterize the new version.

 

Since its been conveyed the roof was raised it may explain the misalignment in the door as it didn't seem to be there in its heyday.​

 

the misalignment looks the same then and now. raising the discussion; if they raised the roof why wouldn't they fix the cowl/door /hood alignment?

I'm glad to hear that. It's a shame we are forced to be so skeptical these days. There was an old post on here about this car over ten years ago, the back window you can really see the chop is more drastic.
