    Thanks, really appreciate it. I can't take credit for the recent body work as that has been done by Simon at Creative Metal Works. Well worth checking him out on Instagram. His work is world class and he does some really interesting projects.

    The chassis came back from blasting and painting this week. The under seal on the body was also over sprayed with black paint to allow for easier cleaning before it was dropped back on the chassis.
    Now starting to hang and align the front sheet metal [​IMG]

    Chris at shoebox central found them some place. They've got plenty of shelf wear but will chrome up nice!

    The drivers side rear quarter has been patched and hammered out to remove 'oil caning' after previous repairs. The rear quarters were held out with pieces of timber.

    Tony at Ross Race Engines has started building the trans and engine so I'll be stoked to get those in place.

    A little more progress. Trans and adaptor have arrived from Tony at Ross Race Engines with the engine due for completion early July.
    I’ve borrowed an engine off a friend to allow me to mock everything up and I’ve got the car at home again. The steering box has never been out so I’ve pulled that and giving it a birthday.
    The engines looking big so hoping it fits without too much hassle!

    Along with the trans I also got this compact starter and relocation adapter from Tony at RRE. Hopefully it helps to give a little more clearance on the steering box. Fingers crossed!

    So the olds is now sitting in place. The starter worked out well but the steering will need some work.

    I am confused by your pics of the engine placement. Switching the Olds starter to the right side of the engine with the aftermarket lower housing was standard practice on shoebox Fords. Like wise, a dropped tie rod center link. You appear to have clearance for the starter in stock location. Is the engine mounted with an offset? I would have expected to see the the center link forward of it's apparent location, nearer to mid pan, rather than what appears to be to the very rear. Is my memory really that far off reality?:oops:

    In any case, as I have posted earlier.....a super nice build and I commend you for the excellent workmanship!

    Thanks for the comments.

    I was unable to find a lower housing to move the starter and Tony at Ross Race Engines suggested the compact starter.
    Your memory is still good mate! The engine needs to move back about 2.25 inches towards the firewall and also be raised up some. I’m looking into the dropped tie rod as our certification laws don’t like heating and bending of forged components. I was hoping there might have been a change out from another year maybe.

    Haven’t really made much progress this year due to work commitments and of course covid.
    My new engine is now here in New Zealand and I’m working through the design of a dropped centre steering link. Any modifications here in NZ require an engineers certification so I’m looking at machining the link out of a solid piece of 4340 bar stock. I’ll also be required to run disc brakes for compliance as the standard drum brakes I’m told will not handle the certification test of five consecutive start to stop tests of 0 to 60 to 0.

    It’s been awhile but we’re on the road again and back into it. Here in New Zealand we have to get the body repairs certified. It’s a heavy process so I’ve enlisted some experienced help. We’ll get the body finished and legal over the next couple of months and then tackle the chassis.
