Went to the Kingsmens club car show in Orting Washington without my 34, (insert  right here. Went with Jim who helped me get my auto-Moe-bile, ( last name is Moe don' ch know), one the road. He has just few cars, all pristine so I drove his newly completed '57ette with '88 running gear and he dove his beautiful 54 Chev. HT. Great show around 250 great cars. I don't do pictures, sorry for that.

  5. I repeted the mowing this afternoon. In addition to the two cows the Ram sheep came and grazed also. He ate weeds and plants the cows wouldn't touch. They all finally got full and went around back to lay in the shade and chew their cuds. All three grandsons are here today. They played and fought with each other & explored everywhere and climbed on everything and got grubby dirty. I get to give them their bath and wash their hair. The eldest is five a real know it all ive nicknamed him Smarty Pants. the little one is named Aiden. I call him Deano. If someone calls him Aiden He yells No I Deano. He is quite a character. The middle one Grayson is quiet he don't say much lets the other two know what for by wapping them. Lots of fun to watch them.

Got up at o dark thirty drove my 56 pu up to LA roadster show with my pal Butch + Gary and Bob flying wingman in Gary's 61 ford unibody. The drive up was quick and easy , the ride home sucked major ASS:mad: The show went off like clockwork thanks to the LA roadster club taking the event back:D Had a great time , bought a couple of treasures at the swap meet. We walked through the vendor area and stopped at the Moon trailer as usual ...I was riding my Stingray when a guy starts talking to me about it...It was Dean Moon Jr. In all the years of going to Moon shows etc. and talking to Chico had never heard of or seen Dean Jr. Kinda Cool, Good day in my book:cool:

Having just sold my roll back f550 I decided to purchase a small pick up. Been looking for a couple of weeks and then the light came on why not buy something that might not depreciate like a more modern truck. I decided on a Ranchero or Elcamino. I must have looked at 200 ads from all over I found a couple of local Rancheros that looked interesting.

I went today far out on a island in the San Juans to check out a 1977 Ranchero. Only 44,000 verified miles a 1 owner car purchased by the 89 year old man selling due to health issues. All the original papers and books plus original tools including the horrible single post bumper jack and base and lug wrench. The bench seat does not look like it was ever sat in.

Not 1 iota of rust pimples anywhere. 2 very small dents in the tail gate no rust just minor dents. All chrome is perfect the bumpers are not even scratched. He purchased the car new in Las Vegas and it spent the 1st 20 years there. He then moved to the San Juans and because he was a pilot and had a plane in a hanger he kept the Ranchero in the hanger as well. The doors are tight and no rattles, the rubber seals are excellent as he kept them soft with Vaseline. The glass is blemish free and windows work easily. All the gauges work flawlessly even the clock still works and keeps time. The air conditioning blows really cold.

He put new tires all around last year and at the same time replaced the complete exhaust system. The only short coming is the paint. Not that it is bad but as its a light blue metallic has some sun fade. That's it ,runs drive like a new car no squeaks or rattles just drives like a land yatch.

So now you ask how much does this guy want for such a perfect 40plus year old car? Well that's the best part, he told me he could not even consider taking less that $4 grand period. Well within what I was planning to spend and a lot less than the mid size pick up I was planning to buy. So I popped open my wallet open pulled out a bunch of crisp Benjamin's and made the purchase before he changed his mind or dropped dead from old age.

    just sayin'

  16. I am almost 76, with some serious medical issues, and am totally frustrated at missing good working weather. I was doing prep work on the site for my garage yesterday, and while I was cutting brush, I stepped in a hole that was hidden by grass and tore my hamstring muscle (not a good sound). I was so pissed, that after I could finally get up, I put some liniment on the area and kept working as much as possible.
I had a miserable night, and am forced to take the day off today. I can't even run the excavator, because I would need a lift to get in the seat.
What disappoints me the most, is that I was making excellent progress, and even losing a couple of days is a real setback for me.
I want this garage built, so I can spend the rest of my life playing with my toys.
    Bob, the frustrated.

  17. 22 years ago I was kinda in the same boat - wanted a HAMB-friendly 'chero or Elky, then lowered my sights for decent last-generation ('77-'79) Ranchero or ('78-'87) ElCamino. All the 'cheros in my area were rotted out while I found a 98k mile '87 'mino with V6 - ran it for 12 years as a DD then retired it for showing and swap meet runs -sold it last August. Still want a 1st Gen '57-'59 or a '60-'63 Falcon 'chero but would have to give up my '55 Vicky and/or '40 Ford 2dr projects to do it, and having owned both nearly 40 years that's hard to do.

The new Buick engine settled some and the slim clearance between the starter and steering column evaporated.
I raised front of engine about 5 sixteenths with washers under engine mounts. Worked like a charm and still maintained reasonable clearance every where else.
    Simple is good.

I chased down a starter problem, took my mom out to her birthday dinner at the lake in one of my old cars and it would barely start when we got up there so I had work to do when I got home. I was about ready to start ranting on those rebuilt starters but turned out to be a ground issue, all the rain we had the last couple years has played havoc with my cars that sit outside and not driven frequently.

  25. Tires & wheels Spent several hours over at the shop breaking down tires and removing them from the rims. The scrap tires I cut large holes in the sidewall with a sheetrock knife. I wanted to mount some of the better tires on 15 inch 6 hole rims. Found one of the rims I wanted. They have 4 nubs to hold the hubcap instead of three. Those will clear the disk brakes on 4 wheel drives. wire brushed and painted the inside of one. Spent the better part of a hour looking for the second one. I know I have two. eventually looked on the passenger front of my 66 GMC and found it LOL. I have a number of those factory mag rims that came on GM cars. I needed to get the tires off so I can list them for sale.

Wife made my favorite meal for dinner. Kids and grandkids helped eat it. Fished, rode go karts and just flat out had a great time! Then after everyone left, I took my Dad's old car out for a little drive around. Old girl ran like a charm. Hoping that he would be smiling up there.

Did a full tune up, and carburetor synchronization, follow by a brake fluid change, on a vintage BMW motorcycle, that belongs to a coworker.

  30. Thanks, I took a lot of teasing from my kids today, but I was able to gimp around. I am hoping that tomorrow that I will be able to find some light work to do that will keep me going in the right direction.
