Does anyone have a extra one they'd sell? I thought I had 2 for my sedan project but I was thinking about the plates on top of the door where you would lay your arm. I only have one top plate that you remove to remove the door glass. It needs a little work but is fixable. Mine is a 28 but I think they're all the same, may be wrong. Shoot me a Pm if you have one.
They are not that expensive new (reproduction) from one of the several vendors that sell parts for these cars Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
"Header strips fit on the body at the top of door openings and hold the door lacing in place. The square hole goes at the rear , and is for the upper rubber bumper." ...Is this the part?...and funny thing I rember seeing these and wondering what the hell they were for...I didn't even think they were Model A... https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_...tudor-sedan-and-30-31-pickup-28-1-8-long.html
...This is from a door section in a Model A book I have and the part for your sedan is in the middle pic. It has a built in grab tab and the last pic seems to play a part in it all as well... Post a pic of your one you have it helps Identify it... Found it... Steel Garnish Molding - Model A Ford https://www.mikes-afordable.com/product/A342A.html
Yes thats what i was talking about earlier, cudnt remember the name of it but remember buying them for my 30 A Garnish moldings......wow....i dont remember giving 125 for em though!! Yikes, maybe used would be better
I can totally understand why stock is preferred over repro...at least in a pinch you have a choice...
They do come in different sizes depending on the body style. Brattons has them in reproduction, PN 31600 but are about $105 for a pair. I see lots of them at HERSHEY and if I were you I would wait and try to find an original. I just looked thru my stash and don't have one, sorry. Reproduction parts are sketchy and an original will be way cheaper.
They are the same size for 28-29 coupes and tudor sedans. The fordor parts will look completely different. And, it's not any of the parts that Stogy is showing. But, there was a running change in the design of the door tops. It involves the way the corner folds over the door. There is a small little locating/locking nub on some which is either missing or changed location on the second version. My brother is the Model A expert and he pointed this out once, but I've forgotten the details. I think a guy could make either version fit his door if he wanted to.
Sorry I could not find pic I thought I saved, but some one had made his own out of nice looking wood. Kind of looked like a great up grade,vs. stock. Have no idea if his stock plates were missing,or he just did them as a up grade look.
Try Bill's Model A Acres in Watsontown,PA. Lot of old , good used Model A stuff. Nice guy,too Sent from my moto g(6) using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
No he said its what you rest your arm on. That's the top cap of the door......your right..I posted those top caps yesterday and took them down after reading the Arm thing....I give up...that's why its a good thing to post a pic of what your trying to replace...if you have 1 of What you need Post it...It helps...
I have the plates, 4 screw holes, and the plate with the rubber anti rattle seal. I need the very top plate alchemy posted above. John I sent you a PM, mine measures 26 1/2 inches. Maybe a hair over, I have a 28 tudor sedan, the one in my aviator. Mike's affordable parts has them for $59 plus you'd have shipping. Someone asked where I am at, I live close to Brooksville Ky.
It’s called a door top cover plate. You remove it to pull and install the glass on the Tudor cars and some coupes and pickups. https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_...dan-and-1928-29-coupe-and-1930-31-pickup.html Cliff Ramsdell A pair for my car.
...It prevents this which in my case without it also lets you know how much the chop was... I have to be careful when rolling the window up to keep it below the door frame area or things could get interesting... I do have the Caps but the custom top will not clear the cap so one of these days I have to get the cutoff saw and do some selective mods and Gitter done... In the meantime its good for conversation and a chuckle...
I had one of my garnish molding "arm rests" disappear for 6 months. Drove my wife near crazy looking for it. I finally found it in one of my kids' rooms behind her Smurf collection. She'd moved out on her own years before. To this day, I have no idea how it got there.
