Guys, does anyone have some pictures or step by step cut and weld obstructions to put a 40 Ford dash in a 34 Ford. I did one a while ago before I had a stroke, but for the life of me I can't remember where I cut it. I also modified the upper center to use the crank out windshield. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a video that may help you recall how you did it. I couldn't find any of the follow up videos. If you find any more videos, please post.

That helps, but I know that I had to narrow it and kept the ashtrays and somehow a HAMBer told me how to cut or to retain those ashtrays, just can't remember the details, thanks

Here is how I did a 32, in the link at the bottom... I did not want to narrow the dash in the middle and end up with the narrowed speaker grille chrome piece.

Three of the pics are shown of a different rusty dash still in a 40 coupe, showing chalk marks of roughly where I cut the other 40 dash that I did use.

I had to roll the outer ends in to more of a curve, which made me have to make custom fit ashtray "boxes", but they were rotted anyways. (It just takes more work to have functioning ashtrays)

I will take pics of how it looks on the finished car at some point today. It was worth all the work to me.

Nice work, looks great! In the 34, I remember cutting to the inside of the ashtrays and tucking the ends in to save the ashtrays, I think that's a cool factor for that dash. Just can't recall all the details

F&J: Nice work. Looks great. With the radio delete plate painted dash color it will look super duper.
Where will you put your high/low beam light indicator?

I took 1” out of dead center. Cut the long ends off the speaker grille. Widened the radio hole a 1/2” each way and I used a junk 34 dash to weld the outter to so that I could untbolt it just like a factory 34. I’ve built 2 now. Cut and trimmed the back edge about 1/2” straight up the sides and the top I set on there the 40 dash looked flat on top of the 34 top skin and put a couple screws in before I welded

It now has a polished stainless 40 delete plate that has hidden hinges on lower edge for use as an opening/adjustable defroster vent. I made air deflectors on the underside of that plate to direct air to both sides on the windshield.

the high beam indicator is a small red jewel in a round chrome bezel that fits where the stock started button was. It was a handbrake warning light from a 56 Olds. The dash switches and knobs are also 56 Olds

I shortened mine in the center and filled the speaker hole with a '41 speaker grille that I shortened by cutting off one end.
