Hot Rods T350 drainback valve

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 36roadster, Jun 13, 2019.

  1. I went to move off after the car was not used for a couple of weeks, & couldn't select a gear. After finding the trans fluid on the floor, I put in about 1&1/2 pints, and all was good. I keep reading about the elusive drainback valve, and how if it is faulty the torque converter will lose it's fluid when parked up for a couple of weeks. Where exactly is this mythical beast, and can it be replaced without dropping the trans?

My understanding the drain back valve was usually removed from Turbo 350 trans to keep from blowing the front pump seal out I believe it was in the input shaft but usually there's a leak somewhere trans dipstick tube or something else leaking when it fills to pan up at leaks out of wherever it can
