Very cool picture, Mick! When I first saw the picture, looking at the background and the style of the sweet Mercury, I thought it looked like an east coast shot. A little detective work proved I was right. Joe's Playland is an old arcade that is located in Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts. I looked it up on my trusty map and it's way up in the north east corner of the state close to the New Hampshire border on the Atlantic Ocean. I did a quick Google search of Joe's Playland and found an informative website telling of their long history. The business was started in 1919 as a portable popcorn and peanut stand, and is still run by the family who is celebrating their 100th Anniversary in business this year. Very cool to see an old family business still hanging in there in today's "big box store" retail world. Definitely a place to stop and visit if you're ever out east in that area. Here's a link to the website for a neat little history lesson. E https://www.joesplayland.com/index.html
Thanks Ed for the kool history lesson and for posting the link. I will check it out.... Joe's Playland store front makes a kool back drop. Chances are I won't make it up there so maybe I can photoshop one.
This is what my room mate drove in from Concord NC for the Custom Car Revival. This car is on all bags and runs an S10 rear end set up and I a front clip. It rides beautifully and handles like a sports car. Probably like this because Earl set up his own cars for when he was racing NASCAR. He now builds all types of Chev S10's. It was a cool car to drive to the show and around town.
I love the double headlights on this one! Spectacular car! If I had a merc of this vintage, you bet your ass I would be all about this! Makes me want to look for a Merc! (Not that I need another project)
