  1. Ok cool.thanks..
    I have another stupid question.

I took the bowl covers off and they have the float assembly attached.
I summerged them in a clear container with fuel and they seem to float freely.
The question is,what do they regulate?
It seems that it does not have any outlet to close or open..

    Fuel bowl with labels.jpg
I'm not a Holley carb guy, but, this is my opinion.

    1. Fuel enters the fuel bowl on the upper right port (inlet port).

    2. The float is dropped, so the needle valve is open. Fuel pours through the open needle valve

    3. As the fuel bowl fills up, the float rises, swinging on the pivot. The needle valve is gradually pushed upward, restricting the flow of fuel. Eventually, the float will rise enough to push the needle valve closed.

    4. As your engine uses fuel, the float lowers, the needle valve cracks open, and more fuel enters the fuel bowl.

    Does that help?

  4. It does make sense,it makes sense...
But i see no outlet from that white box for the fuel to go to.
The needle valve is not closing the intake of fuel,,,fuel enters the bowl freely regardles of the needle valve.
Might as well not have a needle or float...
I feel like Im missing something.

  5. Thank you..
    That is quite a compliment.

Sorry, I do not have direct experience with this carb. I can speculate that something is stuck in the needle valve seat, preventing a good seal.

Maybe someone else can give a better answer.

    Good luck, Russ

I cant tell if you have a needle and seat in there, but to set the float level on a Holley carb with your setup, there is a little sight plug on the side of the bowl. Remove that, and loosen the locknut on the adjuster, and turn the adjusting screw as needed to get the fuel level even with the plug. If your floats have been allowing fuel to run through the carb like that, I will bet that is where your fuel in the oil issue lies. You will probably do well to Google a video.of the adjustment procedure, I always like to see what I am about to do.

  8. I have the holley 1850 manual choke holley.
Sight plugs and no adjusment screws..
    These are factory set..
And the holes have been epoxied

Uh oh, I have fallen way behind the times here. Off to do some research. I had no idea there was no adjustment there.

I had no idea they make these like that, and for a decade at least. You can check to see if the needle is closing by blowing through it while holding the float up where it should be holding the needle closed. These apparently can be adjusted like other brands, by bending the tang that contacts the needle. If one or both needle valves are hanging open, it will be impossible to set the regulator, as you have seen. It looks like Holley had a recall on the early ones also, due to flaking of the inside of the bowl. I have a set of adjustable ones if you want to put them on, PM me a mailing address if you want them.

  20. So got rid of the "desert rat/get her done" gas tank on the fender.
I secured the gas tank to cab.
I ran the short fuel lines to filter, filter to pump, pump to regulator to carb....all under cab.
    I intstalled the hood,etc.
I felt like the truck was too low so I ordered a pair of 1.5" coil spacers.
(I cut 1 coil and a half and bought 2.5 drop spindles)
    The spacers only raised 1/2".
I bought a pair of stock c20 coil springs and got them installed .
Now the coe has a gasser stance, even with the drop spindles(fucking poser)
Provlem is i cant get out of garage.

    Whats next?
    Heat springs?

  24. Chop the top?
The new springs will settle some after a while....
I had 1/2 ton springs (used) in mine at first, it was kinda low. Put new 3/4 ton springs in that raised it. They settled back down to about the same height as before....

10 years ago a good friend and hamber @hamz52 gave me a blue tinted f1 windshield.
I installed it with my gfs help...
Im surprised i didnt brake it with all the times i moved it around...
I picked a 48 chevy cab and i think im going to try to make a coe out of it..hopefully it dont take 10 years

  28. On the hop?
I dont know,I have the front springs that I cut 2 coils to get it low and 2.5"drop spindles.
I bought a new set of springs, installed them drove around but still had the hop.
I had the wheels and tires checked and balanced.
Changed wheels and tires from a van that drove super straight...nothing.

    The driveshaft is not balnced.
Leaf springs in rear and i took a few..
Shocks are at an angle 1 forward ,1towards the rear.
    Brand new shocks all around.
I drove with no weight in back.

I only have 4 lug nuts in each wheel(8lug nut wheels)
    Chevy wheels on chevy hubs.

Years ago, we had a problem like that with rims getting mixed up between our Ford (E450) and Chevy short (P40?) short buses. Memory is a little fuzzy, there was a difference between the alignment hole size on the rim and the lug nut style (Coined vs non-coined rims?).

Look at the center hole, where the rim is mounted on the axle - Is the gap even all the way around? If the gap varies, there is your hop.
