  5. Stogy those are real wires on the T-bird, not caps. Probably Kelsey-Hayes that were used on many square birds.

I saw another today...I didn't talk to the owners so it was an assumption on my part...so I guess the spinner pops off to expose the lug nuts unless they are knockoffs which I doubt. They sure class up the situation...

A car magazine article can highlight details incorrectly or vaguely, that's what I was questioning...then there's Stogy's take which can be just as unreliable...:D

    Thanks @lurker mick

@Austinrod this Custom is well documented...that's very helpful...to you and the rest of us...many have one or two pics and that's it...

Not to mention the original Owner still around...priceless.

I definitely like the Fiesta caps better than the wires. If you had the original "handmade" wires the car had at one time, I'd feel differently, but if it's Olds caps or new repop wires, I'd much prefer the Olds caps.

Once you have the wheels and the other detail stuff swapped on, it'll be easy to try different colors on the car in Photoshop, seems like it's been several different colors during it's show years. I don't dislike the "pink", but I'd like to see what it looked like in the other hues it wore as well.

  16. I definitely prefer the Olds caps, but remember real Oldsmobile caps do not fit on early ford 15" wheels.
The center is too deep and hits the wheel.

Another vote for the Olds 'covers. The 8.20's look great on @cactus1 BB. Plus, pretty sure you'll be way ahead on the $ versus new repop wires.

Back in the day, we figured out that Olds Fiesta spinner caps fit 49 -51 Mercury wheels, which have the early Ford 5.5 bolt pattern.

  27. Getting those centerlines off will be the biggest improvement of all! (By far my least favorite wheel ever!!)
