Picked up a new car a few months ago. Sold the harley and 40 Plymouth and got me my Mainline. Figured you’d guys dig it. It’s got the fuel saver I6 in it. Super clean [IMG]

That's clean. How's it drive? Is the dash cover just decorative? Have fun.

It drives great. Kinda grinds going into 1st but it’s 66 years old. Everything works well. Yes the dash cover is decorative. Not sure if I’m digging it though. Thank you. Something me and the family can cruise around in.

Yea my son can’t stop touching it. I think the color is bright to him so he has to puts his hands on it. Which is cool with me. Needs 12v conversion and Vintage Air. Yes a glass pack for sure!!!

1st is not synchronized. That did not come around until the 3.03 in 1963.
    Upshift is fine....123.
You can smoothly downshift 3-2. You may can double clutch from 2-1 if you had your mouth right but I just stop before going into first.

I am not impressed with the cover either. Ditch it in my opinion.

Oh yea. I never touch 1st until I’m stopped. Runs like a top. Really smooth.

Just a random thought; is a 300 six and easy swap in these? I have had a couple of them (in an F150 and a Winnebago), and they are awesome engines.

Nice looking car, my first car was a '53 Ford Mainline 2 door sedan, and it was originally that same robin's egg blue color, still have it. What grille is in there? Hard to tell from your pics. I like the white pleated vinyl and green piping job done on the interior. I like the idea of the white pleated dash pad too but I feel like it should be cut out and seamed around the speedometer and clock blisters so it would lay flat.

Keep in mind there's no synchros to downshift into first in that transmission, you have to either be at a dead stop, or be really good at double clutching and matching engine RPM's to rolling speed.

That is a very nice ride...sits just right. I would nose and deck it. A little primer spot is fully acceptable. Just my thought, you won't like the sound of a single glasspac on a six....it's just loud and noisy and not a pleasant sound. You have to SPLIT the exhaust, then you will get a really sweet sound.

It’s actually a chrome eBay grill for a F150 cut to go. I do have the original grill with the bullet nose for it. Car could use new paint. Bunch of touch ups and also of it doesn’t match lol

Yea I’ve thought about removing the hood ornament but not sure yet. Yes I would split the exhaust for sure and run 2. Thanks for the advice!!!!

You know I’ve never thought about it. Seems like it would be a cool swap. That’s 215 needs a little pep in its step but not sure if I’d separate the original engine from the car. I’d just keep in on the engine stand anyway. Thoughts??

You just have to wonder what happens to these cars in time. There time capsules that we take care of for the next guy

Very nice! It looks great!!!!! It's such a great car because you can take your family. I have a 31 Model A Coupe. My kids are now at the age where they want to go to shows with me and can't. So, I'm very seriously considering adding a 50's era ford to the stable.

You and your family are going to have a lot of fun with this car. Equally important, you are going to make some priceless memories. You made the right decision!

Thank you for that. I’m excited to have my boy grow up with cars. Hopefully he’ll share the same passion. If not then that’s ok. Whatever he’s into I’ll be right there with him. It’s cool to have something the whole family can enjoy!!
