Check out passosrustygarage on Instagram. He's in my town somewhere and does a lot of Cab-Over builds but I haven't managed to run into him yet (my neighbors know him though).

He gets around a lot and takes pictures of many, many big old trucks.

Here's a picture I took at the 2018 Boston World of Wheels show of one of his rigs.

I like it. No worries about stone chips and you really get to enjoy it. What are you running for engine , trans and rear gears ?

The grey truck is my current daily, the red one is pie in the sky, if I live long enough.

  12. It is just a run of the mill, but decently healthy 350 with a Saginaw 3-speed and 3.73 gears. Not a great highway setup but fun around town and fun to drive.

The green one is my '55 IMG_0442.JPG the first time I built it. 283/350/10 bolt. Knockoff Torq Thrusts and cheap 225/75 take off tires from Craigslist. It's been redone a 2nd time as a frame off rodstoration and is no longer HAMB friendly. I almost regret having built it as I did.

The gray one is not mine. I found it in a sale ad and was so impressed I kept the pictures. I almost wish I'd built my truck more like this...little more daily drive friendly. Mine's too showy now to just park any damn place. Oh well, may just have to sell and built another one! Lol

Thanks. First, I need to sell the Tudor to free up room. But nothing says it cannot sit on the trailer until then. I was questioning in my mind if '55 or later Chevy or '48 or later Ford would have a bit stoughter frame for towing and heavier weight?

I had two cousins that had wrecking yards and one of them had old mini that they made into pick up/wrecker just for a conversation piece. Good mileage and could still haul a rear end and a tire or two.

That's cool. I like those stickers. Do you mean it is not 4x4 now?

I have an ot 4x4 now but I just want to build a two wheel drive that can "haul the mail" year round.

My shop truck " The Dog" is an ot Ford dually that I bought new 25 years ago. Love that truck but I really need to redo her. If Ford had built a long wheel base panel like Chevy did in the early 50's , I would seriously think of re bodying her. But she has served me too well over the years to put a Chevy body on her lol! bought this beast from an amish farm sale last year. Just finishing up the brakes to get it back on the road. Not pretty but its been well maintained and has a 16' twin hoist grain bed. It will come in handy for bigger jobs and some gravel work we're doing this year. Would like to swap it to 10R22.5 wheels to get some modern rubber.

Thinking of putting a short dovetail on the back to extend it a little for car hauling. Also need to install a receiver hitch somehow...

Downside is that it's just the 6 cylinder, but it runs great and has plenty of power with the 2 speed axle. IMG_9902.JPG IMG_9909.JPG

Is that last picture a Ford Courier made into a cabover?
