I traded a CB radio once for a complete Pontiac 389 tripower manifold w/carbs. Typically I don't have much luck trading though. Usually the other party offers something like a used potty chair in exchange for a set of NOS Ardun heads.

  3. Ive owned in the neighborhood of 2000 vehicles. Not too many lopsided trades. However I have bought lots of vehicles parts & things at auctions for pennies on the dollar. Likely the best deal We bought our 1600 sq ft block building, with a attached 30 x 30 red iron shop and canopy out front. 450 ft deep well on 1 Acre at the Hwy Intersection. at a state Tax Forfet Auction. For $6,75o.00

My first ever "hot rod" was a ford 36 five winder coupe that I traded a cheesy 9mm hand gun, a legit sub-mariner Rolex and a snap-on 1/2" impact wrench for after an evening of beer drinking about 37 or so years ago. I should have kept the watch.

  5. Got my ass handed to me when I traded my Shovelhead Harley for a POS 1996 Ford F-350 Diesel. Damn truck needed $4000 in parts to make it Road worthy. I hope that f$&@er is still enjoying my Harley.

Stupid me traded my 1967 Fairlane GTA (390) for a run down old Triumph Tiger Year’s ago when I was more stupid than I like to think I am now....
I had traded an old Ford Pinto (paid $110 for it) for the GTA at the height of one of the gas crunches.
    Miss that GTA...

My buddy and I have traded parts for years. Help each other out and have a lot of fun doing it. Sometimes I end up with the same things back.:D.

I had just built a Pontiac 400 ci and turbo 400 for my '62 Nova. A guy wanted my engine /trans and kept after me . Eventually we made a deal. Engine/trans and $1,100 cash for his 1931 Ford highboy. Along time ago and of course I have neither now.

In 1978 I traded a 440 crank and rods that I had just bought at the speedway auction when they moved from 17th and N street for 7 dollars for a 1972 340 Demon roller . I then sold it to a friend for $150.00

  12. in the early 80's (when i was 13) i traded a fiberglass 1956 corvette go cart body that was left in the root cellar of the house my family just bought for a 1968 chevy impala wagon that was rusted half way up the fenders and doors. drove it around in circles in field behind the house for a couple of years until the rear end rusted loose from the frame. pulled the small block and powerglide out of it and scrapped the body for $75, and traded the power glide for a 125cc dirt bike. The following year I put the small block in a 75 chevy monza coupe... then got my first exhibition of speed ticket....

I traded a plain jane 62 Chevy that I bought for $105 for my 47 ford coupe and a mordoor parts car in 1988. Guy had a 62 impala with a munched front clip and the Chevy I bought had a near perfect clip.

A co worker said he had a Muncie 3 speed with shifter. Said he wanted $20.00. Ended up being a Muncie out of a 1969 Chevelle with a "Muncie in the handle".

I have been through Arkansas and looked through those real estate mags. There are some great prices.

  22. Probably the best deal I ever made on a car was a olds. It was a intermediate with a 350 auto had everything even a factory CB and electric sun roof. It was clean good paint rust and dent free. air blew cold. they started it up ran fine. wouldn't move. passenger front tire locked up. I started it out at $65 and bought it for $65. We thought we would pull the tire and wheel and see what had it locked up. turned out it had a flat on front and before the sale they put the spare tire on. wrong rim had it in a bind. We took the tire & rim from the rear and put it on front and installed the spare on the rear. My wife drove the car home. The next day we where washing it and a buyer came by. Sold it for $650. Nothing amiss about getting a ten fold increase!

  23. Nope Luck hasn't anything to do with it. Its just having the Know How. You gotta save 10% and keep it cash on hand for seed money. Then when there is a bargain you can buy it pronto. You never spend your seed money of day to day living expences or frivolous things. Its investment money only. When you sell something 10% of the profit goes back into the seed money along with the initial investment. The first rule of business is Save Thy Money.
