This Victoria belongs to my friend Dave Leather out of Pennsylvania. I heard he is going to try like crazy to take it to the CCR this weekend. Hope he makes it. Such a sweet sled! E

Just thinking out loud...

Another HAMBer posted a pair of early '60s Chevy pickup "nostrils" for sale, and it got me to thinking, couldn't those be turned into some interesting and unusual taillight housings for a kustom?

I can picture putting red lexan behind all of the open areas and wiring it to have some openings as parking lights, some as brake lights and some as turn signals. Of course, youd have to fabricate the "buckets" in which to mount the bulbs.

You could use a portion of the Chevy hood to blend into the bodywork, or form your own openings.

Anyway, thanks for letting me get that out of my system!

I see that this beautiful Fleetline was customized in the mid-Fifties by Dee Wescott.
Below is the unique, Caddy-topped Merc that Wescott did for Chuck Traaen.
It's still around, I'm happy to report.



Wescott was later known for his high quality fiberglass reproduction Ford bodies.

Yep Wescott worked on a lot of cars in the 50's and early 60's before going into the fiberglass business. He was one of the big names in the Portland area.

 

I would love to see more current photos of this awesome ride!

Dig how the hood extends into the grille opening...

 

One kool example why Kustoms are kool. First glance you would think it is a mild kustom. This 1950 Plymouth Custom has a Chevrolet top with DeSoto rear fenders This is the way they should have built it..

 

I think this was a Milwaukee Wisconsin car. display card shows Joe Roth built 1962, current owner Marcus Edell. If not we had twin in the Milwaukee area, we also had an awesome purple 59 convertible, owners name was Randy, we went to Apprenticeship school at same time 67/68

 

Turned vertical would look good....

 

Marcus sold the car a couple years ago. Last seen on a bad used car lot sitting on 22" donk wheels
