I can see it wasn't "painted the barn"...

 

I have start finishing the bed for my Model A,went for some boating and these three "girls" were on the wrong side of the fence,took 2.5 hours to get them back.....

 

Found some plastic at dumpster so cut a headliner. The gray material was too thick to work with when i tried to install so good thing I grabbed the white plastic as well. I'll cover with vinyl.
The aftermarket fibre headliners lose their shape after a few years. Seem to absorb moisture and lose their form, or mine did.

 

^^^^^^ The aftermarket headliners are made out of non waterproof material. Same goes for all the package trays.

 

This morning my 9 year old son took me to breakfast. We drove “Old Blue”, our 1950 Chevrolet 3100, had a great time, wonderful company and the old truck ran like a top! Dad and I decided that we really need to drive it more often. After that, I hung two new storm doors for my Mom and Dad. Then my son and I did some trailer work and we finished up by me teaching him how to mow grass with his slightly O/T 1967 John Deere 112. A perfect day!

I had the honor to be invited to our local county supported "skill center"today. This is a old time trade school with a number of different paths from culinary, aircraft work, a huge automotive and body shop program, and a big diesel truck program, plus a number of other career paths from retail to carpentry. The students can get a 1,2 or 3 year certificate. The reason for the invitation was they sponsor a 5 hour car show and they invited me to bring a vintage Ferrari for the show.

Now guys here is where it gets interesting. The automotive students had a check sheet for each entrant. They had to come up introduce themselves to each car owner. Then spend some time and ask specific questions regarding each car. On street rods the questions went from paint and finish to matching up engines, transmissions, and brakes etc.

Obviously my Ferrari was a point of interest due to the fact most of these young people either had never seen under the hood or sat in one. I answered each and every question no matter how many times the same question was asked. At each car they had to write down their questions and our answers and at the nd of the show they had to turn their work in to get credit for the day. These students were well behaved courteous and a pleasure to be around.

The other thing that really impressed me was nearly 25% of the students in the automotive classes were girls. I casually looked at their hands and yes there was signs of dirt and grime under their fingernails. These women were asking questions just like the guys and were every bit as involved as the guys were.

This was a great way to spend a few hours with our future mechanics and techs to impart some of an old mans wisdom and as important listen to what their goals and expectations are for their future.

I say guys, we are in good hands we can all rest easy!!!!!

Friday night. Went to Island Dragway after making changes to the 57 Chevy. Took the 600cfm vac secondary carb off and put on a worked (horn milled,etc) 650 double pumper mechanical secondaries Holley. Also installed a MSD distributor, Blaster coil and Street electronic box. Had the timing set, the floats set on the carb, new Accel plugs and MSD street fighter wires. The best ET to date on the old combo was 13:40. This is a street driven car and I run through the exhaust. The first two runs were to settle in the new combo. The next 5 runs ranged from 13.151 to 13.163. Nice consistent combo. Went two rounds in the Gamblers meet, cut a bad light but ran right on the dial. 13.15 dial and a 13.151 run. Sweet, very happy with this nasty street car.

It’s all that was available. Had package tray on OT vehicle suffer the same distortion.
Rear panel is tight, headliner going to be a bear to install, should have done it 10 years ago

 

The upholstery wholesalers also offer a waterproof board as well. It`s twice as thick. I rarely use the non-water proof material.

Forgot to mention on the kick panels as well.

 

I want to build a big pile of crap and take it to the dump.

Yesterday I sold a 391 ratio Mo Par posi rearend. and the front crossmember & suspension from a square cab truck. Today I took my wrecker to the other place and retrevied a 305 engine. tore it down to the short block. I have a potential buyer for the short block. I will keep the 602 casting heads. I need to get another one of those front suspensions taken out. They sell pretty good. Buyers use them to convert 60 thru 70 GM pickups from 6 hole drum to 5 hole disk. Its a popular and easy swap.

 

When I build a big pile of crap I flush the toilet.

 

Installed headliner. Miserable job for vintage humans. And it sagged soon as I installed interior light lens. Going to drill hole in light housing and squirt some foam up there then support it till it cures

 

Yard work!! Gotta find another 40 to do soon!!

Got the wife out of the house for a while, drove up just north of Knoxville, TN and met @oldfordtin face to face.

Heck of a nice guy. Easy to talk to and deal with.​

He had an early 50's Hudson speedometer that looked like it will fit in nicely in my '27 T roadster dash. Big dial, easy to read and it works. Stopped for an enjoyable lunch on the way back home. Wife doesn't get out much anymore other than doctor's appointments so, this was a good day for both of us.

 

I am hoping to venture to the Jalopy Jam Up in Rockton Ontario...but weather has to be cooperative as it's a fairweather Hotrod...that's already a lengthy adventure for me near 500 miles return...so probably not...but I do have several more local options...thanks for suggesting that...I'm sure it would be a great time...

 

Rain coat and goggle ala Barney Oldfield and you're set for anything. It's only rain but then, considering where you are, it may still be snow

picked up a crusty old Craftsman tool box a week or two ago,
today I added a wheeled base and brackets to hold the bottle
and set the tig on top.

 

Spent money at an estate sale. Model A parts and antiques. Past Wednesday was more of that and tomorrow at it again.
