Firs for those reading this that served our country; thank you. I am looking for a distributor specialist close to Cincinnati, Ohio that knows Flatheads. My distributor does not have the advance I am looking for and I had it apart and everything is free moving. No hang ups. I spoke with Joe Abbin in Albuquerque, New Mexico and he said I should have 20 degrees advance but I am only getting 15 at best. Thanks in advance for the replies.
I also had Bubba do one for me. Might want to have him convert the cap, rotor, and clips to '42 parts at the same time as they are much easier to work on.
I can't speak with any authority specifically on the flathead distributor, but are you talking distributor advance or advance at the crankshaft? If you have determined that the distributor itself advances 15 degrees that would be a timing advance at the crankshaft of 30 degrees. If that's something you already had in mind when you posted the numbers please ignore my post. Lynn
