My brother and I were introduced to Gary Cagle back in 1959-60 era at Lions Dragstrip. At the time, he drove the very fast, yellow, record holding, Herbert Cams Special FED.

During this time period, his main competition happened to be the Sidewinder, the Lefty Muddersbach twin, Howard Johansen Twin Bear, and his one time partner, Don Hampton in the Kenny Lindley Potvin Supercharged, FED.

We used to see the bright yellow, Chet Herbert Cam Special quite often. Sometimes it was called, "The Torco Oil Special." But, when they raced each other, our hearts were divided and excited that such powerful drivers were going at each other, as well as their FED race cars would allow.





But, as unusual as it is/was, we never saw the “Half Fast” roadster compete at Lions. So, this is the only information provided about the rear engine roadster from the early Cagle/Hampton camp.

Dubbed Half Fast, it was built by the senior Cagle and Don Hampton. Incorporating a swing-axle suspension and powered by a 353-cid Chrysler, it hit 121.57 at Lions. Cagle also ran a belly tanker at Bonneville that was called Half Fast as well and got him into the 200-mph Club.”

...been so busy this Spring, haven't doodled much at all, so here's some old stuff...

There are "feel good" Blues. Maybe just try "Motorhead Baby" by Johnny Watson
or Jimmie Vaughan, or "Rocket 88" by James Cotton.

Wouldn't be adequate to just hit the "like" button, that striping style is gorgeous!

 

Should rotate the wheels about 90 degrees counter-clockwise, so the car and the house/trees are basking in the same sun!
