I have been a serious Corvair guy, and I'm not getting the vibe. It would be extra fun to take to Corvair events, because they would be as confused as the HAMB crowd is! I guess driving around "engineless" and recording the confused looks would be fun too... Now I'm talking myself into it:confused:

It does look like a boatload of work, so kudos to the builder for "stick to it":)

  11. Thought the Corvair powered '36 coupe on eBay was one of a kind, now another Corvair powered Ford, kinda makes you wonder what were they thinking.

  12. It is strange. I saw the ‘36 as well. Thought it was weird to see two Corsair powered “rods” at the same time. Had never seen it done before.
Was curious what the reaction would be and is about as expected. lol
It is all pre ‘64 though...........

True... but it's still a Chevy in a Ford!

  15. Had a '61 Corvair decades ago and it was a real "dog "! Automatic transmission dropped down into low on any hill. I like the Corvairs I've seen with v8s , but this isn't working for me...

  19. I know absolutely nothing about the front wheel drive GM’s, but how about keep the concept, but ditch the Corvair motor/transmission for a late 60’s Tornado or Eldorado drivetrain? Definitely shouldn’t have any issue hooking up the tires.

Sad project with EVERYTHING started and unfinished and they started to wire it! Save the cab, hood, fenders, lights, and grille. Bob

Now wait a minute. It's still a deuce pu for the $, even if not H.A.M.B.-lovable as is.

And we all remember Andy's Volksrods, right? Are they considered total bullshit too?
    (Yeah, well here, certainly).

I mean, whoever's ass is sittin in it, could close the lid and hood, and drive on. (Probably better than me in an obsolete, back road, 4-banger L-head!)

    IMHO

Perfect example of why one persons vision may not be for the masses

I'm sure that pushed out firewall is great for legroom but it's not very pretty, nor is that steering rack sticking out in front of the grille (is that what that is?). Appears to be a good cab needing a firewall, a box that's probably workable, grille and fenders and possibly hood although that looks like it may have been cut? Plus probably a title. Definitely some value there, but probably not close to what they're asking.

If it was all done and fully functional, with hood sides, I'd drive it. But the amount of work to properly finish it from it's current state is probably comparable to the work it'd take to just put the body on a new '32 frame with a standard V8 drivetrain, and I'd much rather have that.

"Different" can be a great thing. But I'm not seeing it here.

Saddest part, ad says it was completely running and driving 4 years ago then blown apart for "custom chassis" which I imagine included the Corvair stuff. Most likely, all the work that was done will get scrapped in an effort to put it back the way it was before the guy started. That's kinda sad.
