A lot of real good "s**t" came out of Good Humor trucks in the 60's...

  12. Don't worry about being picky. You could be right about that. I'm just going by the description that was given with the photo from the AAA archive site I mined it from. I know some streets ended up being rerouted and renamed later because of the freeway construction. I lived in SoCal most of my life but left 20 years ago so my memory is hazy at best for some of the areas.

I believe the first photo could be Lee Wallard; probably just after WWII. Looks like it could be a HAL engine setup.

And the other photo is a great one of Manny Ayulo with his hand on the tail of the Coast Grain car at Indianapolis in 1952. By all accounts Ayulo was a pretty sharp guy and a talented race driver to boot. Note the crew member wearing the "Hop Up Magazine" T-shirt. "Hop Up" was an early rival of magazines like "Hot Rod". I'm not sure just when "Hop Up" quit publishing.

Yes, that is Wallard at the 1st race at the, then 1/2 mile, Richmond Raceway 1946. He was the 1st car to crash and he was pinned in the car. Don't know any details about the car but it looks a lot like the Leech Cracraft car. If it's not, I would say, it was certainly built by Pop Dreyer.
