20190509_151811.jpg Hi folks am new here. Got my first car or (actually truck) back in 1974 which was a 39 ford pickup. Before I did anything to the pickup me my dad and His friend Jim profit restored a 47 ford coupe . We did hand rubbed lacquer , had mohair interior done in greer SC. Car was rust free ,pretty nice when finished.
Several years later dad had Jim do the car again, This time he did basecoat/clearcoat Chevy engine Mustang 2 front sus. Jim had a resto business in Orangeburg SC , later he moved his shop to Olar SC. I now have the car and am currently doing some things to it. I have had dozens of other cars over the years but am down to this ole familiar friend. Anyway looking for a dash, Jim had put in some sort of modern dash that to be honest clashes with the rest of the car. Not sure why he changed it out but the orig dash is much prettier. Anyway hello to all.

Welcome from Indiana! Obviously we like pictures around here:). Good luck with your project there are a lot of knowledgeable folks on this board but more important it is a community of like-minded people that take care of their own. Regards, Randy

    Welcome aboard...
a '39 truck dash is welded to the body... must be cut out...
depending on how they cut the old one out determines how hard a new dash will be to install...
    I narrow '38, '39, '40 car dashes to fit in '28 to '34 cars and '35 -'36 trucks..
also have a pr. of '39 truck doors, pr. hood sides, 2 bad grills and the interior trim strips...
    pm me for pix ?...

20190508_220141.jpg 20190508_220141.jpg thanks to all. I will post pics tomorrow, the ole 47 needs some tlc , mostly paint which is around 30 years old . Still a solid driver. I got new upper and lower control bushings , strut rod bushings and mufflers ( has ole glass packs that are a bit loud fer my old ears ) I am thinking it will get a new paint job in near future .I would do it but been about 12 years since I sprayed a car and I dont have a paint booth any more anyway. Car would be a good candidate for dustless balsting. Hate to say it but ole Jim who did the repaint with basecoat clear coat should have stripped the car on the last paint job . Starting to see some places pop up .The last car I painted was a 52 chevy pickup , I sand blasted and primed with an epoxy primer as soon as I got it cleaned. Saw truck about 6 years ago still looked good. Here is an ole pic from when I was working on the 39 ford truck back in 75 .

How wild are you going ?
buddy has a very popular '49 merc dash, that I narrowed to fit his '47 ford coupe... would need more to fit in a '39 truck...
    a '47 car dash is about 8" wider than a '40 car...
    a '39 and a '40 truck should be close...
he is not going to run the merc... interested ?

Welcome from one "Carolina boy to another". Now somebody besides me knows what "Bubba" means!
Think twice about that dustless blasting........Had a "dude" ruin a virgin 65 Mustang hood with that blame technique. Then he leaves town and KEEPS my money! See him a few MONTHS later at a car show and gets my cell number....gonna call me with a refund. That's been what???...4 years ago?? Swears it wasn't his fault. Right.
Like a 39 better than a 40. (the grille I guess) Posts some pics as you progress
