I just installed a SBC Offenhauser Dual Quad 360 High Rise intake. It looks like it was designed to only allow a Distributor with out a Vac can on it. So what did y’all use?
I have a brand new Delco style Pertronix distributor. Can I remove the vac can on it? I don’t run it hooked up any way. Maybe there’s a lock out bar I can put in it? My other option is to grind away the back of the intake to allow clearance for the vac can. At this point the distributor won’t move advance or retard.

    This is the Motor spec.

I used a Mallory Unilite with no vac advance. Fitted easily.

I might have to find one of those. Any advice on using what I have now?

Turn your distributor to where it fits and move the plug wires to where they need to be.

How about removing the vac can? Any advice or experience with that. I have a stock look Pertronix currently.

I think I’m going to end up doing that.

Here’s the traffic jam I’m working with. I talked to Offenhauser today. Seems like grinding the manifold is what was done to fix this.

  8. No way I would grind on that beautiful manifold. Since you’re not using it hooked up, remove the vacuum can, cut off the diaphragm housing and weld the actuating rod solid to the bracket, making your own lock out.

Offenhauser told me this intake will be for sale again in the near future. That should bring plenty of views to this post over the years.

I sanded an old cap to give me the clearance I needed. The distributor now has some rotation to it. Next I’m going to look at locking out the advance on the distributor.

I decided on picking up a used Mallory distributor. The 56 style V8 distributor cap and non vacuum advance is what this intake is designed to use. [IMG]

I got the distributor issue solved with a Mallory Dual point. Thanks for the advice. [IMG]

I just pick up this 36 chevy truck and was trying to get away from points but maybe not. The setup of the engine looks bad ass with the dual carbs. FC35B981-8D36-4328-A2B7-FAD438703DAC.jpeg D1018D08-1E5A-4BAB-B245-F8DCCF000D6D.jpeg

  14. Tough getting Holleys to fit these intakes, yours is the highrise style, evident by the tall carb pad, then another 2 inches of spacers to get the rear fuel bowl over the top of the distributor.
    They are great looking intakes.
