  3. I think it's Fonty Flock of the famous Flock brothers.
    He used to race in Bermuda shorts. It started at Darlington S.C. due to the high temperatures on Labor Day in South Carolina. Being a showman it became his trade mark.

    How come so many of these images that need no explanation have me wondering what was going on?

    With some of the images I would really like to hear the story involved, and others I'm pretty happy there is no story told.

    I do NOT think it's a FIAT. FIAT race cars in the beginning of 20th century were huge monsters, over 20 liters engines (>1400cid) and frames like small locomotives. Thus the photo remains mystery = Would need explanation.

    Frank Bacon, a London racer with his FHB-Rudge. It was based on an Austin 7 chassis and built for the 500cc racing class that was popular in Britain just after the war.
