1947 Lincoln Continental

 

Looks like Bill Holland in 1953 after sitting out the 1951 and 1952 AAA seasons while suspended. During those two years he ran sprint cars with IMCA, CSRA, and URC I believe. This car was owned by Earl Slick Jr. who was from a mega wealthy oil wildcatting family and also was a pioneer in the air freight business himself. He was a WWII pilot and started Slick Airways which at the time was the only national cargo airline. He also owned one of the original front drive ex-Blue Crown cars by this time but never managed to get any of his cars qualified for the 500. Holland left this ride to drive Ray Crawford's car in the '53 500. Slick finally had some success at Indianapolis when he partnered with Jack Zink in the middle 1960s with drivers like Jack Brabham and Jim McElreath.
