Just finishing up the 32 and wanted input on what a normal operating temp for a blown 392 should be. Seems like she is running way too cool on the first few shakedown drives.
That is what I was figuring, but this one seems to be running at like 140° Sent from my SM-G950U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
What's your thermostat? Try a 180 if you have a good cooling system. 195 if you feel real confident and have a 16# pressure cap. That is a big hunk of iron, it takes a lot to warm it up. It may take 10 miles of driving or more to reach full temp, sitting in the driveway idling it may never reach full temp.
Make sure where your sender is that it is completely submerged in the coolant. If there is an air bubble, it will not read correct.
I have a 354 blown hemi with a 180 thermostat and temp sender in the back of the drivers side head . It takes about 10 miles to get to 180 if it’s cool outside it runs 160-170 at 45 mph. It gets 200-210 in traffic on a warm day. But cool right down when we get moving. I had a large air bubble in mine I could not drive it for a couple days and it would still have pressure on the cap it took almost a gallon to fill it now I can check it next morning and no pressure, I kept burping the system till I got it all out . They hold about 4 gallons. Hope this helps Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
