Trying to locate a 1/8" NPT to 3/8"-24 IFM fitting with a threaded shank long enough to thread into an unused master cylinder port. Do they even exist?

    1/8 male pipe?

Weatherhead 202x3 brass fitting. It's only 0.70" long, though.

So you are installing the brake light switch to the M/C? Novel idea if so! I remember some older single reservoir's doing just that, it was on the end of the M/C.

  10. Either make one from a hard line and a fitting or try a brake trailer tee.

You can't File down the outer lip till Desired Depth is achieved for the Fitting?

Check your local hydraulic hose place, bring that fitting with you. Works for me!

How much more depth do you need??? could machine the hex down to set it deeper if very little is needed or as what was said use a crush washer or "Stat-O-Seal" (washer with a O-ring)

    Checked them....nope.

Can't do that as it will encroach into the NPT portion of the fitting.

There isn't one anywhere near me.

Nope....fitting needs to seat on the inverted flare at the end of the fitting.

    Around 3/16" or so.

Without getting all spaghetti, the only option I can see at this point is to drill out a port plug and braze a NPT fitting onto it, which seems a bit hokey to me. At this point it would seem there isn't a specific fitting, with a long enough threaded shank, to enable it to be used in an unused M/C port. I would think there must be a demand for one....there I go thinking again o_O

The first post is about installing a hydraulic brake light switch.

I need to raise a question about using hydraulic brake light switches in modern traffic. My frequent hobby driver has a hydraulic brake light switch, when I installed a high mounted 3rd brake light, I could it light in my rear view mirror. I found that it took a fair amount of foot pressure to turn on the brake lights. Just tapping the brake pedal would not turn on the brake lights.

Consider a mechanical brake light switch.

When I say something like that, my wife always asks me "are you equipped to do that?" Lol

I was Talking About the Housing of MC not the Fitting. I Have Put A Seat In Before by Filing down the Shoulder. The Fitting will not be Touched.

This hyd. switch is the low pressure version, due to running disc brakes. After this futile search for a fitting, I'll most likely go with a mechanical type switch. Was hoping to use an unused M/C port.

Ha! My wife has seen me build enough stuff over the years to know I'll eventually come up with something that can't or is near impossible to do. She is very understanding and kind to me in regards to my brain-isms ...at least when I'm around :)

    Nope. Checked them also.

OK, got it. I thought of that, but am trying not to get too freaky deaky with all this...just need the correct fitting.

Thanks to everyone that has tried to help....I appreciate it.

  23. You might check with a motorcycle supplier. Harley has used those hydraulic switches for years and with the custom bike market there's all sorts of weird fittings available...

Does this port in the master cylinder have a seat for the inverted flare?

I used the Speedway fitting with a crush washer.
    Works fine.

If there was a demand for them-- they would be available already
But having machine shop capabilities, not that hard to make

Checked all my HD catalogs and found #63609-72, but it is also too short...looks to be the same fitting as the one from Speedway. Russell has a #240-723 fitting, but it is too long. It's intended to be used with a banjo fitting.

Yes, but it is located too deep to use the normal length threaded fitting without bottoming out on the shoulder of the adapter before seating.

Thought of that, but am concerned there won't be sufficient thread engagement, as the fitting's threaded shank is so short to begin with, at only 1/4" of exposed threads. It may be the only solution to use this fitting though. Just concerned about stripped threads.
