Is the truck a runner and just being used the way it is or is it just wasting away? Sad if its just sitting and falling apart considering the before pic.

What a shame. Wait for the patina crowd to jump on here saying it looks better now than then.

From the picture it still looks solid and restorable.
I wonder what happened to the Triumph motorcycle.

I think the Chevy rear fenders look great on there. To my eyes, they flow better with the front fenders than the original Ford fenders.

Looks like the truck has ‘been around’ a lot since the photo in gold paint. It didn’t change that much overnight......took several steps to make that transition.

Become the new caretaker Pete! It would look good pulling/pushing the Old Master! Oh, thanks for the help with the wheels. They now have a home in Colorado on a Willys gasser and my buddy's widow has some sorely needed cash!

That truck needs a new caretaker.

It is wild how a near showrod can end up looking like that...I guess if there's any positive in the negative its survived...not without hardship but it has a chance at a revival. The other positive is its a California based vehicle so somewhat of a gem considering the rust belt classics. But shes went down a few notches thats for sure...Fingers crossed.

  10. Sure hope someone takes enough interest to bring it back to its' former glory. What a sweet truck it was.

I agree Moriarity but can you imagine 20-30 years from now in this hobby. Sure was a beauty but looks like it could be brought back.

I’m just amazed it survived at all! It needs your touch! It’s always been one of my favorite pickups.

I am sometimes surprised that old hot rods and customs survived at all. Between styles changing and attrition, you have the fact that in the 70's to early 80's everyone was into bone stock restorations. Because they were worth more. I remember being yelled at by older guys because the 64 Catalina I had was ruined because it had mag wheels, aluminum valve covers, and a chrome air cleaner on it. By the 90's a lot of those guys were Street Rodders.

Must be in an old section of town, that building doesn't look like the typical California house. Bob

The last time I saw it running, it was at El Mirage a couple of years (or More) ago. It had a canvas "troop hauler' cover over the bed and the owner was driving the snot out of it.
But times change, and don't look in my back yard and my 40, it is sad, for now.

Are the cowl vents stock or an addition? Bob

  22. They are an addition, @The37Kid. They are off of a Studebaker. It also runs 1947-54 Chevy rear fenders, with a lot of the work and paint being done by Gene Winfield. I always dreamed of building a '40/'41 similar to how Barnett's turned out.

Who owns it now @Pete Eastwood? I assume its still in California?

I like the gas filler door. Nice work. And those fenders do look good.

My wife and I meet Joe a few years ago at Good guys in Delmar. WE spent a couple hours talking to him, What an interesting guy with great stories. Rodders Journal Did a great story on him that took 2 volumes to complete, Great read. I'm guessing you knew him Pete, Is he still with us?

Don't know if it is the owner when I saw it at ElMo,, but the first time I saw it, I mentioned it reminded me of the Cloari truck at which point he pointed out some gold paint on a door frame, if i remember right. So he knew.
Once the press and shows stop, it becomes just a truck to drive and abuse (my words)

Actually it looks very much like a California house but maybe not so typical,,, if you look close it has lines of a Green & Green designed house,,, which brings it into a high end area of California. Pasadena?
