1439C266-F266-4D51-A539-32A5B1585447.jpeg SoI have a SBC 290 hp crate from Summit. The mount on the block for the fuel pump has four threaded holes instead of the two on the Edelbrock pump I got. I’ve never worked on a SBC before, just SBF’s. What am I missing ? I don’t see anything for the pump lever to ride on, obviously I’m confused.
    Appreciate the help guys thanks

There is a plate that goes on before the pump. You should be able to see a pic online somewhere.

Thanks, what activates the lever for the pump?
    I don’t see a cam lobe like a Ford

There's a fuel pump rod that goes in the hole.

Go on line and read up on the install. There is a bolt hole on the front of the engine that you remove and replce with a longer bolt which will "pin" the actuator rod in place while you install the pump. Make sure you remove it and reinstall the short bolt when you are done.

Make sure when putting the longer bolt in to hold the rod inplace to only put it finger tight

Thanks, appreciate the info but it may be a mute point as the Edelbrock pump is too big, it’s up against the inside of the frame ! Brookville 32 pinched for Model A. Wondering if the stock one is smaller

Never worked on a small block Chevy, sheesh, now I've heard everything!
Just fun'n with ya, but depending on the amount of pinch, the chassis may require a fuel pump with a housing that is "clockable".
Is it the pump body that is up against the frame or just a fitting?

Buy a manual with pictures. Not being an ass, it will explain it all.

OK, so the housing itself is in contact with the inside of the frame, I’m surprised Brookville designed it like that. Anyway, it ain’t gonna happen with the Edelbrock pump. Is a stock one smaller ?
And you’re right, I should have read the manual first, since I never worked on a SBC:eek:
    God help me:)

  15. I'll bet you could answer questions about SBF that the Chevy guys would ask.
    Just sticking up for you.:D

Send me a PM with the outside diameter of the Edelbrock pump body and I'll compare it to another brand of SBC fuel pump that I sell. I sold a number of them to circle track street stock racers. It's probably smaller in terms of GPH and pressure than your Edelbrock (7011?), but should keep up fine with most street use SBC engines.

I usually put a big glob of white lithium grease on the end of the rod that goes towards the cam. it tends to keep it in place while installing the pump.

Thanks, that stock one is definitely smaller than the Edelbrock.

There is also a threaded hole in the front of the block that intersects the pushrod. Screw a bolt in finger tight to hold the rod until you get the rest of the assembly in place, then remove the bolt. The white grease is an excellent idea to.

Thanks, then a shorter bolt goes back in ? I ought to buy an old abc and scavenge all these misc parts:rolleyes:

  27. On my 290hp SBC neither front motor mount bolt hole goes through to the fuel pump cavity.
I slipped a hack saw blade between the pump lever and the rod. Get the pump bolts started then slipped the blade out before tightening. Helps to glue gasket to pump first.

Yes, with a dab of sealer on the threads.

It's funny you say that cause I got a 65 283 block and neither of the threaded holes go through to this cavity. Come to think of it there was actually only a lower hole there in the front of the block and I had to drill the upper hole to attach an old Hurst cradle style mount to it.
